Robbie Williams set to rejoin Take That

Robbie Williams set to rejoin Take That

Robbie Williams is set to rejoin Take That.

The 35-year-old singer – who quit the pop group in 1995 - spent five hours in a Los Angeles studio on Tuesday (26.01.10) singing and recording songs with his old bandmates and was then spotted hugging each of them as he left.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "All the signs are looking good. It's great news for the fans. They're using this time in Los Angeles to start working together as a band again.

"They were delighted with Tuesday's session and were congratulating each other as they left. They're using this time together to crack on with reunion songs."

Take That – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange – were in the US city to record their parts for Simon Cowell's charity single, which is set to raise funds for the relief effort for Haiti's earthquake victims.

The track, a cover version of REM's 'Everybody Hurts’, features a star-studded line-up which includes Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey and Rod Stewart among others.

A spokesman for Take That last night (27.01.10) said: "Take That didn't go to Los Angeles with plans to officially write or record with Robbie, but they've been hanging out together, which is great."

Paul Weller denies Jam reunion

Even after being joined by Bruce Foxton on his new album, Paul Weller rules out a full Jam reunion.

Paul Weller has told Xfm this morning that there won’t be a Jam reunion. Rumours began to circulate after news broke that the Modfather would be joined by Jam bass player Bruce Foxton on his new album.

Speaking to Dave Berry on Xfm London’s Breakfast Show, Weller said

"It was a few phone calls and just making contact again. I thought it would be a nice idea and Bruce was up for it".

"There’s no reunion, it’s just Bruce coming down and playing on a few tracks. It was fun and it was nice for us both to do it".

Weller’s album, 'Wake Up The Nation’ is released on April 12.

Scouting For Girls are back

Scouting For Girls are back

Scouting For Girls release new single This Ain’t A Love Song on March 29. It precedes the release of sophomore album Everybody Wants To Be On TV on April 12.

In 2008 Scouting For Girls became the biggest selling new British band of the year. Having toiled for ten years unsigned, the boys sold over 900,000 records of their eponymous number 1 debut album, and were nominated for three Brit Awards (British Breakthrough Act, British Single and British Live Act) to become the UK’s most successful new pop band.

Fronted by exuberant showman Roy Stride, Scouting For Girls quickly became renowned for their contagious piano-led pop songs (She’s So Lovely, Heartbeat, It’s Not About You, Elvis Ain’t Dead), that connected with a huge audience and reaped multiple sell-out tours.

The initial recordings of their forthcoming second album Everybody Wants To Be On TV were ruthlessly scrapped by the band after the Brit Awards in 2008, when they decided it needed re-writing and re-shaping. Whole tracks were dropped in Roy Stride’s mission for a collection of perfect pop songs. The resulting album, produced by Andy Green at Helioscentric Studios in East Sussex, is unshakably bold and confident, a genuine step up in sound that loses none of the band’s early charm but builds and expands upon it as infectiously as only they know how to be.

This Ain’t A Love Song is a telling introduction to the new record. It is a hugely powerful, soaring song and a strong example of Scouting For Girls’ ambitious new sound, sculpted by Roy’s unflagging confidence and songwriting prowess.

It is a welcome return by this everyday trio, writing a bright new chapter of British pop for 2010.

Victoria fumes as David Beckham has his balls grabbed

Victoria fumes as David Beckham has his balls grabbed

David Beckham had his penis grabbed by a woman trying to check the size of his testicles.

Italian journalist Elena Di Cioccio took the soccer star by surprise as she put on a pair of rubber gloves and grabbed his manhood – to see whether or not he lived up to his nickname 'Golden Balls’, which he was famously dubbed by wife Victoria Beckham.

She said: 'I want to find out how big his testicles are!'

David – who was happily speaking to press outside a hotel in Milan before the incident – recoiled in shock and glared at the blonde reporter before being led away by security staff.

She then went running down the street shouting 'E piccolo, Beckham', which translates into 'Beckham is small.'

The journalist apparently wanted to see whether or not David’s package was as impressive in real life as it appeared in his Armani underwear campaign.

However, she was filmed running alongside his car screaming, 'You’ve taken us for a ride! How could you? David!'

Moments before the woman pounced, David had been chatting with another blonde reporter.

When she asked him what he liked most about the Italian city, he replied: 'Everything. People have been incredible to me around the city.'

After David had been driven away, Di Cioccio had seemingly still not recovered from her experience.

She told her camera crew for The Hyenas, broadcast on Italia1: 'Mmm, my God. I touched his b***s.'

Paula Abdul offered a $1 million to appear on 'Dancing With The Stars'

Paula Abdul offered a $1 million to appear on Dancing With The Stars

Paula Abdul has been offered a $1 million deal to appear on 'Dancing With The Stars'.

The 47-year-old singer and choreographer has reportedly been offered the huge sum as a Development Deal by network ABC.

If she agrees to be part of the ballroom show, they will then also allow her to become a judge on the US version of 'The X Factor'.

The former 'American Idol' judge - who controversially left the show's panel last year after seven series - is said to have met with media mogul Simon Cowell about joining his stateside version of reality show 'The X Factor', which is a direct rival to her previous programme.

Simon was also a judge on 'American Idol' but announced earlier this year he is leaving to start his new project.

It is not yet clear whether Paula will compete on 'Dancing With The Stars' or appear in another capacity, such as a judge, but ABC have reportedly been trying to get the 80s idol on board for a number of years.

A source close to Paula told website MSN.com: "She's been wanting to make her mark on a network long term.

"She's had reality shows and such, but she hasn't had one place to develop the Paula brand. If ABC were to give her that chance, she'd probably do it, even if being on 'Dancing With the Stars' was the trade-off."

Paula has until March 22, when 'Dancing With The Stars' begins, to make up her mind.

Rihanna sleepless over Haiti

Rihanna sleepless over Haiti

Rihanna has been having sleepless nights thinking about the Haitian orphans.

The pop star – who is from the Caribbean island of Barbados – has been left extremely distressed by the earthquakes which have hit Haiti leaving tens of thousands of people dead or injured.

Appearing on Oprah Winfrey’s TV talk show, Rihanna said: 'Often in a tragedy like this, it’s the children who suffer the most. They have no way to get food, they’re helpless. The children are the future.'

The 21-year-old singer – who appeared on the programme with Wyclef Jean, who was born in Haiti – also stressed the help provided to the Caribbean island needs to be long-term.

She added: 'I want everybody to do what they can right now. But it’s what’s going to happen six months from now that’s really going to count.'

During the show, Rihanna performed a cover version of Bob Marley’s 'Redemption Song’ and the track is now available to download from websites Oprah.com, iTunes, and her personal site with all proceeds going to Haiti.

Wyclef stressed the Haitian people are not getting the right help at present and don’t need anymore people looking for a 'photo op'.

He said: 'We need logistics, we need people to go to the airport who can get stuff out of the airport and to the people.'

The musician will co-host the Hope for Haiti telethon with George Clooney on Friday (22.01.10) and is then flying out to Haiti on Saturday (23.01.10).

Mika had his best kiss at 17

Mika had his best kiss at 17

Mika had his best kiss when he was 17 – even though he smelt like 'rat p**s'.

The 'Love Today’ singer’s most memorable smooch took place nine years ago in a river in London when he was a drunk, lovelorn teenager.

He said: "It was near the river in Hammersmith. I was drunk and we were on the bank, and I stepped back into the water and got wet. I smelt like rat p**s, but it was a phenomenal snog."

The 26-year-old singer has always been vague about his sexuality, but admits he has a soft spot for 'tough' actress Hilary Swank and hunky US singer Michael Buble.

He quipped to Heat magazine: "I like Hilary Swank, because she's sort of tough. Michael Buble kissed me at the Royal Variety Performance - not on the mouth, I wouldn't let him."

Mika recently admitted he is in a relationship, but refused confirm whether it is with a male or female.

He explained: "I'm private about my private life and I think that's an important thing. It's not necessarily retaining mystery , it's preserving yourself so you can sit down and write a song without feeling like you've sterilised yourself to be nice to everybody.

"I discuss my sexuality in my lyrics more than anybody in pop music. There's a way to discuss sexuality without labels. It's not born out of fear because you don't make music like mine if you're operating from a position of fear, that's for sure."

Kings of Leon strike new record deal

Kings of Leon strike new record deal

Kings of Leon are to pay to make records.

The 'Sex On Fire’ rockers have left their label Columbia Records and negotiated a new deal with Warner Brothers, which will see them pay half their recording costs themselves, giving them more control on their own spending and reaping in a bigger profit share.

Under normal record deals, artists are given an advance by their label to cover any costs, but they then have to pay it back and share any profits from their work with the record company.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'Kings of Leon are one of the few bands on the planet who have enough heft to negotiate such a favourable deal.

"It is virtually unheard of but it shows how keen Warner Brothers were to have them on their books.'

Meanwhile, the group are set to gain further revenue by releasing their own clothing range.

The KOLxS2A brand will hit shops this month, and comes with a hefty price tag.

The group’s trademarked leather jacket will cost £739, while a T-shirt sells for £71, a checked lumberjack shirt costs £112, boots a staggering £361, and bandanas retail at £65.

Kings Of Leon announce first release on own label

Kings Of Leon will proudly release 'Some Kind Of Salvation', the new album by Tennessee brethren The Features. Having toured with The Features throughout the UK & US, the band fell in love with their sound, energy and explosive live show.

'We’ve been long-time supporters of The Features, they’re one of the best undiscovered bands in the world and we’re excited to be releasing Some Kind of Salvation' - Jared Followill, Kings of Leon.

Produced by Grammy-Award winning Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Sea Wolf) and Brian Carter, 'Some Kind Of Salvation’ weaves a sound that can losely be described as a bulging mix of scrappy white-boy soul. The Features’ influences run the gamut of popular music over the last 50 years. Whereas some bands arrange certain songs to sound like this-or-that-era, The Features just let the musical pieces they've picked up through the years fall back into place, giving them an identity all their own.

The Features are Matthew Pelham (guitar, lead vocals), Roger Dabbs (bass guitar), Mark Bond (keyboards) and Rollum Haas (drums).

For the first time in 4 years the band will be heading to the Uk to play a selection of headlining shows:

Peter Andre wants to work with Amy Winehouse

The 'Behind Closed Doors’ singer would love to team up with the troubled singer, who is currently recording her third album, after learning she is a fan of his.

Peter said: 'I think Amy is an absolutely incredible singer, and I would be thrilled to work with her at some point.

'I know she’s had her fair share of troubles, but I think she’s a lovely girl who just needs a cuddle.

'I have bumped into her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield at a few things over the last year. Dionne always tells me how much Amy likes me, and how every time I’m on TV, she points at the TV and says, 'There’s my Pete!’ '

The 36-year-old singer – who split from wife Katie Price last March - also revealed that 2010 has been a good year for him so far following the emotional upheaval of 2009.

He told new! magazine: 'I’m so much more relaxed and happier than I was last year, and I feel like I’ve got nothing but good things ahead. Life is full of highs and lows and this definitely feels like it’s going to be a great year.'

Jamie Hince buys Kate Moss £40,000 watch

Kate Moss’ boyfriend bought her a £40,000 watch for her birthday.

The Kills rocker Jamie Hince presented the supermodel with the lavish 18 carat, rose gold piece of jewellery at a belated celebration he threw for her at London’s Shoreditch House on Wednesday (20.01.10).

Kate – who celebrated turning 36 on January 16 with a sunshine break in Thailand – was joined at the trendy venue by Jamie's bandmate Alison Mosshart, Arctic Monkeys rocker Alex Turner, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Kate's long-time friend Sadie Frost.

Kate arrived at the party wearing a pair of leather hotpants, a white tuxedo jacket and high heels, and was later presented with a birthday cake which featured an iced image of her holding a microphone.

However, she was not wearing the engagement ring that Jamie, 40, was rumoured to have presented her with on her birthday, quashing speculation the pair are set to wed after more than two years together.

Instead, it has been claimed that Kate – who has a seven-year-old daughter Lila Grace from her relationship with publisher Jefferson Hack - has told the rocker she will only wed when she is ready to, despite numerous proposals from the musician.

A friend of Jamie's said: "He has asked Kate to marry him several times. Kate told him one day she will surprise him by turning around and asking him to elope, when she feels the time is right."

The 38-year-old Australian singer – who announced earlier this month she is expecting her first child – was stunned when doctors warned she would struggle to conceive, but tried to pretend she didn’t care her biological clock was ticking down.

Dannii Minogue told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'A while ago I went to my doctor for a check-up and he told me I’d got to the stage in my life where I’d have to make decisions about having children.

'I remember thinking, 'Oh God. I’m now that person who is getting too old to have kids.’

'I told him it wasn’t an issue for me because I didn’t have a man, there was no one on the horizon, and there probably never would be.'

Things turned around for Dannii in 2008 when she met British ex-rugby player Kris Smith, 31, while holidaying in Ibiza.

The star – who currently splits her time between Australia and the UK – says Kris is a calming influence on her anxious nature, but admits they are currently having problems deciding where to raise their child, with the model applying for citizenship in her home country.

She added: 'Kris is so completely broody. I’m totally in a panic about everything – babies, living together and working miles apart. It all seems so complicated.

'I am exploding with happiness. But, hey, it’s wonderful to have problems caused by being completely in love.

'My life has been turned upside down, inside out and everything. I mean everything is fresh and new and exciting.'

Susan Boyle snubbed by BRITs

Susan Boyle snubbed by BRITs

Despite selling 1.6 million albums in the UK, Susan Boyle did not receive one nomination for the 2010 BRIT Awards.

The decision to ignore the biggest selling artist in Britain last is seen by many as a slap in the face to Simon Cowell, who has manipulated the UK music scene with his reality shows Britain’s Got Talent, X-Factor and American Idol.

The only place where Cowell acts are nominated at all is in the British Single category where radio listeners vote for a winner, not the industry.

Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry both managed a nomination in that category but as there we no singles from Susan Boyle’s 'I Dreamed A Dream’ album, she did not qualify.

Susan also did not rate a mention in Best Female Solo Act, Britney Breakthrough Act or British Album.

The BRIT Awards are on February 16 from Earl’s Court in London.

Amy Winehouse pleads guilty to assult

Amy Winehouse pleads guilty to assult

Amy Winehouse has pleaded guilty to common assault and disorder.

The 'Back to Black' singer appeared in Milton Keynes Magistrates Court this morning (20.01.10) to answer charges relating to an incident last month, where she lashed out at a theatre manager after interrupting a performance with a foul-mouthed outburst.

The troubled star - who was charged under her married name of Amy Civil - was given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £100 compensation to her victim, front of house manager Richard Pound.

Passing sentence, district judge Peter Crabtree said it was clear alcohol had paid a massive part in the incident.

He said: "Mr Pound is a person whose job involves interaction with the public. If he's assaulted he deserves the court's protection. In this case it's obvious that alcohol played its part."

The judge said he felt the sentence was appropriate because it would force the singer - who has a history of drug abuse problems - to maintain good behaviour.

He added: "It may be harder than a fine because you have now got to stay on the straight and narrow for the next two years."

Amy was arrested on December 23 after handing herself in for police questioning following the disturbance, which took place during a performance of 'Cinderella' at Milton Keynes Theatre.

The 26-year-old star reportedly spent more than half an hour of the first act of the performance yelling expletives.

Her outbursts were said to include "f**k Cinders, Prince Charming, marry me" and branding the Ugly Sisters "b***hes."

Families in the audience got upset when Amy repeatedly stood up, blocking their view to jeer at the cast.

Jessica Simpson recording with boyfriend Billy Corgan

The 29-year-old singer-and-actress – who has been dating Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan since late last year – has taken their relationship into her professional life after pictures appeared on twitter of the blonde beauty in the recording studio with the rocker and producer Kerry Brown.

After Kerry posted the picture – believed to be taken as Jessica works on her new album – the star wrote of Billy, 'He braids my prayers."

'The Dukes of Hazzard' star seemed to be enjoying herself in the studio too as she wrote back: 'Fun to be lost in laughter,' and then later adding: 'I am blessed.'

Jessica - who was previously married to Nick Lachey and has dated singer John Mayer and American footballer Tony Romo – and Billy, 42, were first romantically linked in November after they both attended a Los Angeles party, though they have been friends for some time.

A source said: "She has completely fallen for Billy and his easygoing, smart attitude. She says she wants to take things a lot further.

"She had secretly been crushing on him for months and felt there was a connection at the party.

"As the night went on things got more intense and they talked with their faces just inches apart."

Alexandra Burke is scared of dating

The 'Bad Boys’ hitmaker – who has been linked to a string of famous men including members of boy band JLS and singer Peter Andre – is currently single because she never believes anyone who approaches her has honourable intentions.

She said: 'It’s hard not to be wary so when someone comes along I always put my guard up.

'I have to remember not to judge everyone because there are good people out there in the world.

'Although I have always convinced myself that there is never going to be a good person, there is. I need to be careful of not judging a book by its cover.'

The 21-year-old star insists it is more difficult for women entering into relationships because they form bonds with people quicker and more easily.

She explained to the Daily Star newspaper: 'Guys can walk around and meet loads of girls and they don’t really care. They don’t get emotionally attached – but girls really do.

'If you’re not ready for a girl to get emotionally attached to you then don’t go near them.'

Despite her fears, Alexandra recently admitted she would love to fall in love but is too busy.

She said: 'It’s ridiculous. I don’t have time to have a steady relationship. But if love comes knocking I’m not going to be one to say no.'

Michael Jackson's kids get allowance increase

Michael Jacksons kids get allowance increase

Michael Jackson's children have had their monthly allowance increased.

In a hearing on Monday (11.01.10), lawyers for the late singer's estate appealed to raise the sum paid to the late 'Thriller’ star’s mother Katherine - who was awarded guardianship of his children in July last year, a month after the King of Pop's death from acute Propofol intoxication – because the $60,000 she was getting to take care of Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, who is known as Blanket, isn’t enough.

According to RadarOnline.com, Judge Mitchell Beckloff was asked to increase "the family allowance to the children", with attorneys submitting a figure for the judge to consider.

It has not yet been disclosed in court what the additional money would be used for and their attorneys have refused to reveal why the money was needed.

Meanwhile, It has also been claimed that the children didn't spend Christmas with their grandmother, because Katherine is a Jehovah's Witness and doesn’t celebrate the holiday.

Instead, the youngsters spent time with family friends arranged by their nanny Grace Rwaramba and were said to be "well adjusted".

A source said: 'They were extremely happy and they had a great time. It wasn’t a big deal Christmas with elaborate gifts. It was very humble.

'They seemed fine, well adjusted; they’re doing their school work. They don’t talk about Michael’s death but they do mention him.'

Carrie Underwood fighting to have a small big day

Carrie Underwood doesn’t think she’ll be able to have a small wedding.

The country singer – who recently announced her engagement to ice hockey player Mike Fisher – has already started a scrapbook of ideas for her big day but expects most of the planning will be taken out of her hands.

She said: 'I started tearing out pictures and stuff. I think I want a small wedding, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.'

While friends of the couple are overjoyed by the news of their engagement, many pals claim the wedding plans took even Carrie and Mike – who have been dating since March 2008 - by surprise.

One pal said: 'It came as a surprise to both of them. They knew they were attracted to each other, but then the relationship just happened overnight - faster than either expected.'

Carrie recently revealed she and Mike are struggling to set a date for their nuptials.

She explained: "Our schedules don't provide us too much time to get married and have time to really enjoy being married. We're trying to really work it out and move some stuff around.'

dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip new single

A euphoric return to pop’s centre stage dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip deliver the Italo-tinged anthem Get Better, released on Sunday Best on 1st March.

Get Better is an appeal for positivity, responsibility and self-education, and it comes blessed with a rolling electro-house groove and the duo’s catchiest hooks yet.

Remixes come courtesy of 2 Bears (featuring Joe Goddard), Jakwob, Errors and Villa, with a video directed by Richard Heslop – who’s credits include videos for everyone from Happy Mondays and The Smiths, to Ace Of Base and the Shamen.

Stream of the original and Errors mixes here - http://soundcloud.com/lesacvspip/sets/get-better-7
Villa remix for download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/w7i7gn

The single is the first taste of their brand new album The Logic Of Chance, a beat heavy lit-pop tour de force released on March 15th on Sunday Best. With the free-flowing rhyme’n’bass opener Sick Tonight, old school dancefloor hip-hop of The Beat, rants about government statistics, teenage pregnancy and music snobbery, le sac Vs Pip have delivered a second album of beat led polemics.

Instantly danceable, yet increasingly vital, The Logic Of Chance is a great leap forward for alternative conscious pop. Scroobius Pip speaking plainly on the state of nation, while dan le sac delivers his most advanced and eclectic soundtrack yet.

Released in May ’08, the duo’s debut album Angles arrived just 12 months after the first fruits of their partnership hit the airwaves. The now ubiquitous Thou Shalt Always Kill, followed by singles Beat That My Heart Skipped and Look For The Woman, paved the way for the debut album to break the Top 30. In the subsequent 18 months, the duo have toured Europe and the US to a growing live following, they kick off a new UK tour in March.

The evening line-ups are selected by a committee of music industry tastemakers, including radio DJs, club pro- moters, journalists and record labels and will begin being announced in late January. As per 2009, MTV will host the 3,000 capacity Roundhouse venue in conjunction with the Crawl and exclusively film a series of extra special guests set to perform the venue during the festival. In keeping with Crawl tradition and the spirit of discovery, the full venue line-ups and stage times remain a closely guarded secret until each day and surprise guests may appear at any time and at any venue.

Weekend tickets for the Gaymers Camden Crawl 2010 are on sale now. For each of these tickets purchased, the Crawl will donate £2.00 to War Child (registered charity no: 1071659).

Amy Winehouse blasts dad

Amy Winehouse has blasted her father for talking about her problems in public.

The troubled 'Back To Black’ singer is furious with her 'embarrassing' dad, Mitch, after he appeared on British TV documentary 'My Daughter Amy’ last week, and spoke about her battle with drug addiction, relationship woes with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil and other struggles.

She wrote on twitter: 'Why don't my dad write a song when something bothers him instead of going on national tv? And you thought your parents were embarrassing. (sic)"

Taxi driver-turned-TV presenter and swing singer Mitch, 58, has been vocal about Amy’s problems in recent months, revealing she is now struggling to curb her spending.

He said: 'Amy quit the drugs in her own way. In 2008, she said to me,

'Dad, I don't want to do this any more.' And she hasn't. I'm more proud of her for that than for her music - she's done it all herself.

"But she's not out the woods yet. She's a recovering addict and other problems have developed.

"Shopping is a problem. She'll go into Agent Provocateur and spend £3000 on underwear in one go."

He also blasted 26-year-old Amy’s ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, 31 - who is currently undergoing court-ordered treatment for his own drug problems – and admitted he is worried they have reconciled.

He said: "Their relationship was a disaster. It was destructive and they're lucky one of them didn't die. Two addicts can't be in a relationship.'

The 'Poker Face’ singer will perform with the 'Karma Chameleon’ singer – who is her teenage idol – on stage at London’s O2 Arena in February.

A source said: 'Gaga has always been a fan and now he’s got his life back on track it’s the perfect opportunity to do something with him.'

The 'Bad Romance’ singer previously revealed she was bullied at school for dressing like George – who shot to fame in the 80s with his flamboyant and androgynous appearance.

She said: "I didn't fit in at high school, I wanted to be like Boy George and I felt like a freak. So now I like to create this atmosphere for my fans where they feel like they have a freak in me to hang out with, and they don't feel alone."

George – real name George O’Dowd – was released from prison in May 2009 after serving four months of a 15-month sentence for assault and false imprisonment of a male escort in his London home.

He has since been attempting to turn his life around, and has been fighting his drug addiction with visits to Narcotics Anonymous.

He said: 'I was like. I don’t need it. I’m fine. Id been to one in the 80s and I just thought they were all weirdos, which is a common get out clause for anyone in denial but I went to one.'

Peter Gabriel set to release covers album

Peter Gabriel set to release covers album

Peter Gabriel will release his 'Scratch My Back’ album project on February 15th 2010 on Virgin Records. The album is the first part of a series of song exchanges in which Gabriel and other leading artists reinterpret each other’s songs.

The album features interpretations of songs originally by recorded by Radiohead (Street Spirit), Neil Young (Philadelphia),Paul Simon (Boy In The Bubble) Arcade Fire (My Body Is A Cage), Lou Reed (The Power Of The Heart), Talking Heads (Listening Wind), Bon Iver (Flume)and many more.

To help craft his recording of the album’s eclectic array of cult favourites and classic tracks, Gabriel enlisted former Durutti Column member John Metcalfe, composer, arranger and the expertise of producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s 'The Wall’, Lou Reed’s 'Berlin’) and engineer, mixer and producer Tchad Blake (Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits).

Gabriel describes this as a very personal record with twelve songs performed only with orchestral instruments and voice. He made the choice not to include guitar or drums. The album’s richly diverse sounds include the sparse romance of Lou Reed’s 'The Power of the Heart’, the powerful musical journey of Elbow’s 'Mirrorball’ and an epic arrangement of Arcade Fire’s 'My Body Is A Cage.’

Gabriel and his collaborators recorded the album at George Martin’s Air Lyndhurst Studios and the Real World Temple with further editing and mixing at his own Real Worlds Studio in Wiltshire. The first public hearing of the album came when Peter Gabriel opened his set at last summer’s WOMAD festival with a performance of Paul Simon’s 'The Boy In The Bubble.’

The album’s interpretation of The Magnetic Fields’ cult classic 'Book of Love’ has become a YouTube sensation since soundtracking the departure of Zach Braff’s character J.D. at the end of eighth season of Scrubs. The most viewed video of the track has already amassed a million views, while other versions of the same video have amassed a further million views.

'Scratch My Back’ will be launched with two London O2 Arena shows as part of The New Blood Tour 2010. The shows, on March 27th and 28th, will present stark and emotional arrangements that will see Peter Gabriel backed by a full orchestra – there will be no guitar or drum accompaniment.

Tickets for the shows are available now at a price of £50 and £40. Ticket bundles are also available exclusively from www.womadshop.com. They include a priority ticket to the gig, access to the show’s soundcheck, a New Blood Tour t-shirt, an event access laminate and a copy of the 'Scratch My Back’ album on CD.

Peter Gabriel’s first came to international prominence with the success of Genesis, a band that he co-founded while still at school. Since leaving Genesis in 1975, his recording career has included seven studio albums, acclaimed film soundtracks for 'Birdy’, 'The Last Temptation of Christ’ and 'Rabbit Proof Fence’ as well as live and compilation albums. His wider musical career has included multiple Grammy Awards and the creation of the now global WOMAD festival.

Peter Gabriel co-founded the human rights organisation Witness.org in 1989 and in 2007 the Elders.org was launched by Nelson Mandela, which was founded by Peter Gabriel and Sir Richard Branson. In 2006 Peter Gabriel was awarded the prestigious Man of Peace title by The Nobel Peace Laureates. He has also engaged in a wide variety of tech-based businesses throughout a variety of creative industries.

Fun Lovin Criminals ready new album

The multi platinum funk soul brothers, with 4 Top 10 albums to their name, return for the first time in five years, with the first classic party album of the decade, featuring collaborations with Roots Manuva and Paul Kaye.

Huey, Fast and Frank have been missing in action for 5 years caught up in an acrimonious legal battle with their first manager who they fired in 2003. 'Classic Fantastic’ bursts out of that gloom like a glorious sunrise shooting infinite rays over a range of shadowy mountains, as spectacularly life-affirming as the last five years have been creatively death-defying.

A party album built in a psychological bunker; it’s a phenomenal testament to the power of unbound optimism.

'There’s this thing called Noetics,' announces Huey. 'Which says if everybody thinks the same good thoughts, good things will happen. Likewise, negative thoughts - it’s not rocket science. She said: 'There is so much I want to do. I would love to try my hand at acting. I just want to keep getting better.'

Rihanna, 21, is also keen to get involved with fashion and is keen to design her own clothing range.

The pop beauty – who is renowned for her daring and racy choice of outfits - added: 'I'll hopefully be making movies and having something to do with fashion as well as making music in years to come.'

As well as her acting plans, Rihanna has made a number of other resolutions for the coming year.

Her priority is to correct her horrendous time-keeping.

She said: "I want to stop shopping, stop being late, start waking up early, stuff like that."

Alex Gardner announces tour dates

Exciting new singer-songwriter Alex Gardner releases his mouth-watering debut single 'I’m Not Mad’, March 22nd - the opening glimpse of his rich, soulful voice and first taste of his prolific pop writing.

Written by Alex Gardner and produced by Xenomania this addictive track has already become an early fan favourite from his performances at T in the Park’s BBC Introducing stage and Scotland support shows for Paolo Nutini.

With me and Brian it’s different,' Alex tells of his unique writing partnership with hit-maker Higgins. 'I had an idea of what I wanted to do. He had an idea of what he wanted me to do. And it was bang in the middle.'

With his debut album set for release in the summer his songbook runs the gamut from soulful ballads, after-hours love, pumping pop tracks and aching dancefloor struts.

'I have enough for a double-disk, with b-sides!' he laughs. 'Which is a great situation to be in – the struggle of 'I can’t take that one off’, 'I’ve got to keep that one’.'

Simon Cowell vowes to help N-Dubz crack the US

The music mogul spent time with hip-hop star Dappy – real name Dino Contostavlos - in Barbados over Christmas and the New Year and has offered to help the 'I Need You’ hitmakers become a success overseas.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Dappy has been partying with Simon, who has been turning on the charm with him. N-Dubz have their sights set on America and Simon has made it clear that he could make it happen for them over there.'

However, Dappy has reportedly left their manager Jonathan Shalit reeling at the thought he and his bandmates Tulisa and Fazer might be tempted to leave him and join Simon’s record label Syco.

Shalit has been further angered by the fact he financed the 22-year-old singer’s lavish trip abroad with his girlfriend.

The source added: 'Shalit is livid. He paid for Dappy and his girlfriend Kaye to go away for Christmas and New Year. He didn't expect his golden goose to be tempted elsewhere."

50 Cent is planning to make Jamelia the first lady of G-Unit

The 'Candy Shop’ rapper – otherwise known as Curtis James Jackson III – hit it off with the British singer

at the premiere of his movie 'Dead Man Running’ in London last October, and has pledged to help her launch her career in the US by signing her up to his record label.

A source close to the hip-hops star said: 'He thinks she is sexy, talented and has the right personality and talent to be huge in America.

'He wants to make her the new first lady of G-Unit, as it has no female artists.'

Jamelia recently revealed she had flown out to the US to work on her new album.

She said: 'I'm collaborating with some amazing producers. I've worked with a guy called Harmony who's part of the Darkchild camp - he's worked with everyone from Beyonce to Lady Gaga in the past.

"I've also worked with a couple of producers out in Atlanta - a guy called Hard Work who's very up-and-coming, and another guy called AJ who's produced stuff for the new Usher album."

Jamelia’s last album 'Walk With Me’ sold 100,000 copies, but she claimed she wasn’t happy with it.

She said: 'I love the songs individually, but I don’t feel that if flows very well as an album.'
