Calvin Harris and Scouting For Girls join Playaway

Shiver me timbers! Gloomy January is upon us once again, but avast ye me hearties and fear not, because all hands have been on deck at Playaway and they are proud to announce some very tasty new additions to their brand spanking new sea side festival bill!

Playaway, which is a brand new festival for 2010 from mega promoters Live Nation, will now be the very first fantastic festival of the season –16, 17, 18, April and will take place at the legendary British holiday company Butlins, on the bright and breezy beaches of Skegness.Think sandcastles and seaweed, merry go rounds, candyfloss and sand between your toes and you’re half way there! Let Playaway take you back to the balmy days of British holiday capers with a chic contemporary twist and lead you on a merry jaunt around the hippest bands and entertainment this side of the poop deck.

With a line up which already includes the likes of Synth pop’s finest Calvin Harris, indie pop darlings Scouting for Girls and effortlessly cool soul pop trio Noisettes, the super kitsch and intimate boutique festival has pulled out all the stops to bring you the finest new talent 2010 has to offer!

First up is hotly tipped edgy pop songstress 16 year old Daisy Dares You who late last year had the majors tripping over each other to sign her. Dubbed the British Avril lavigne, expect bubble gum pink pop with plenty of attitude as this one to watch gives it some serious welly!

Joining her will be the half Persian/half Jamaican pop-soul songbird and new Rough Trade signing Rox. She has already been compared to the likes of Adele, Duffy and Amy so watch this space as this girl is tipped to be huge in 2010!

Taking one for the indie-pop team is the effortlessly cool, Darwin Deez. Hailing from the US of A this boy’s earnest, off-kilter breezy indie-pop oozes with oddball charm and has gained praise from the likes of the Guardian and NME amongst others. Expect hand clapping, a 4-string electric guitar tuned to his own invented, secret tuning and bags of originality, as ’the most likeable hipster in the world’ treats you to a awe inducing live show.

Up next is rising London rapper Example. Formerly signed to Mike Skinner’s The Beats label, this boy has gone from strength to strength gaining interest from the likes of Zane Lowe and Pete Tong and has recently revamped his sound, describing it as 'Dysfunctional Electro-Pop." He will also be joined by East London’s potty mouthed lyrical genius Plan B whose dark and witty lyrics about living in Britain have gained support from NME amongst others.

British singer songwriter Alan Pownall who has recently toured with Adele will also be joining the bill. Alan has been compared to the likes of Sir Paul McCartney and Ed Hardcourt and his own brand of earnest, melodic pop has already gained praise from the likes of the Times amongst others.

They will also be joined by Dublin rockers General Fiasco andTongue in cheek synth pop lads, the amazing Ou Est Le Swimming Pool who are with out doubt both acts to be reckoned with this year!

Playaway are also proud to welcome some more super cool club nights into their sandy fold. Dust off those old LPs and get ready to listen to 'sad music that will make you happy’ at Feeling Gloomy, the uber hip club night that will bring a tear to your eye. Tired of boring dating events?
