Aniston Snaps Away at Mayer Concert

(June 30) - Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer continued to keep their romance firmly off the radar Saturday.Slipping unnoticed into the musician's backstage area at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London's Hyde Park, Aniston stood quietly in the wings, snapping photos while the "Georgia Calling" singer ran through a 45-minute set in front of an audience of ten of thousands.
It was the second time in two days that Aniston had joined Mayer for one of his gigs. On Friday, she took a seat in the upper level of the gritty south London venue, the Brixton Academy, before leaving with Mayer at around 11:30 p.m.

Ritchie Mum Calls Divorce Talk 'Rubbish'

(June 30) - Guy Ritchie's mom is blasting reports that Madonna wants to divorce her son "absolute rubbish," insisting that they are "a close and loving couple" with marital ups-and-downs just like everyone else.
"Like other couples they work at keeping their relationship happy and fresh and they are a close and loving couple who have a family to bring up," Amber Leighton told Britain's Daily Mail."That is not a couple splitting up. I’ll say it one more time, they are not getting divorced; the speculation is TT – that’s total tosh," she said.Leighton said she was speaking for herself, and hadn't been asked by her son to comment on the divorce rumors."It is absolute rubbish, worse than that," she said. "Guy will be furious at me talking to you but I feel I can’t just let these reports go unanswered as they make me so angry and they are hurtful intrusions into their private lives."Ritchie reportedly flew to New York to meet up with Madonna, who was seen at the city's Kabbalah Center on Friday night. She is busily preparing a world tour to promote her album, "Hard Candy," set to kick off in August. She has three children, Lourdes, 13, with Carlos Leon, Rocco, 7, with Ritchie and David, 2, who was adopted from Malawi.Publicly, Madonna has denied senied divorce rumors, but she did no favors for herself last week when she met with divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton, famous for defending Paul McCartney after his split with Heather Mills. The Times of London reports Madonna, whose estimated $600 million fortune isn't protected by a prenup, wants legal advice from Shackleton. The reason for the possible split may not be that scandalous."Things have just run their natural course," a friend of the couple told London's The Mirror, The Daily News writes."They live like brother and sister rather than husband and wife and thought it best to call it a day," the friend added.

Winehouse Strikes Back at Touchy Fan

It was unclear what sparked the altercation but witnesses say a fan tried to grab Winehouse.Police have received no assault complaint regarding the incident and a spokeman at the festival said there would be no investigation, the BBC reports.Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis said he's sticking by the star, adding that that after the show -- which he described as a "triumph" -- Winehouse asked about headling the festival next year.Winehouse sang for about an hour in front of an estimated crowd of 80,000.She shocked fans last week by performing at a special birthday concert for Nelson Mandela. The performance came just after she was hospitalized. Her father says she developed emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine, although her spokeswoman has said Winehouse only has pre-emphysema symptoms.

VMAs Considering a Spears Comeback

(June 28) - MTV isn't ruling out giving viewers more Britney Spears at this year's Video Music Awards. "Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, playfully told The Associated Press during a telephone interview Friday. When asked if he was just joking, Toffler said "sorta."
"Who knows?" he said.Spears' out-of-it "Gimme More" comeback performance during last year's MTV Video Music Awards at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas was one of the most-talked televised moments of 2007. The drama-filled VMAs drew 7.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. Another Spears redux could equal even more eyeballs."I'm not sure how we top Britney opening the show," said Toffler. "We are working on it every minute of every day."This year's MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 7. (MTV and Paramount are corporate cousins within Viacom Inc.)Toffler said the award show's performances will occur on the lot's various sound stages, rooftops and faux city streets."The backlot gives us versatility," said Toffler. "You can do street performances, on-top-of-building performances, on-the-side-of-a-building performances, inside-of-a-studio performances, so we're pretty excited."Relive the Magic: Spears at the 2007 VMAs

Miley Leaves Scandal in Rearview Mirror

(June 27) - Miley Cyrus says she has learned from the Vanity Fair photo scandal that blew up months ago and threatened to tarnish her image as the leading teen queen."I was embarrassed," she tells Billboard while discussing her new album 'Breakout.' "But also it's like, every career thing that I do can't be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong."

"I think that just makes me even more relatable. I don't think people will look at me any differently because they're like, 'You know what, I'm going to do stupid stuff too, and I'm going to make mistakes, and that's fine.' It still hurts when I think about it, but you know what, it doesn't mean that you can't move on."Cyrus' new album comes out on July 22 and she promises that she takes a great leap forward with the new songs. "It's grown-up," Cyrus tells Billboard in an exclusive interview. "I wrote all the songs except two. My last one, 'Meet Miley Cyrus,' was more just meeting me, finding out who I am, and here it's more getting in depth of what's been going on in my life in the past year."Billboard also reports that Cyrus is a busy girl. She's currently filming a new season of the 'Hannah Montana' show, preparing for a 'Hannah' movie and planning a concert tour that will likely get the same big screen treatment as the 'Best of Both Worlds' film earlier this year.Miley Cyrus Racy Photos

Billy Ray also caught flak for this Vanity Fair pose with his daughter, which drew criticism from many corners, even Howard Stern. "It looks like his daughter is his girlfriend," Stern said. Interest in the photos caused Vanity Fair's site to crash.

VanityFair.com

In late May, scandal erupted when Vanity Fair published photos of Miley Cyrus, taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, where the teen was topless and covered with a cloth. Rekindling the scandal, Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus says he "didn't know they were going to strip her down and wrap her in a blanket."

vanityfair.com

Renowned photographer Leibovitz defended her photographs. "I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful."

James Devaney, WireImage.com

To thwart the scandal, Cyrus returned to Disney World as the uproar was cooling. Though she backed out of a red carpet event, she took the stage for a concert, during which she said nothing about the pictures, but did thank her fans for their support.

Garth Vaughan, Disney / AP

Just as her last photo controversy seemed to be but a faint memory, Miley and her penchant for self-taking scantily clad photos of herself has struck again, as new photos of the 15-year-old star raising her shirt and posing in underpants have hit the community site LiveJournal.

Community.LiveJournal.com

In late April, photos of Cyrus flashing her bra and pulling up her shirt while draped across the lap of a male furthered the speculation that the singer-actress sensation may be more PG-13 or R than G-rated.

JustJared.com

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots." adds Cyrus about the Internet photo scandal. The leaked pics didn't make a dent. Her 'Best of Both Worlds' CD was ranked near the top of the charts last week.

Photos of Cyrus in provocative poses first leaked near the end of January to gossip sites like TopSocialite.com.

Oh ... FYI, I'm Dating Jen Aniston

(June 25) -- It turns out all of those sappy lyrics might actually mean that John Mayer is a good, honorable guy after all.Mayer reportedly manned up and called his ex-girlfriend, 'Friday Night Lights' starlet Minka Kelly, to warn her that she'd likely be seeing tabloid reports about his new girlfriend -- Jennifer Aniston, Page Six reports. A source said that Kelly "received a call from John prior to the story breaking about his relationship with Jennifer."
According to the source, Mayer told Kelly "Sorry, but I'm really in love." The source also says that while Mayer and Kelly were dating, Mayer made a comment about his impending girlfriend that now seems confusing. "I don't really get this Jennifer Aniston thing," he reportedly said to Kelly.Aniston and Mayer have been photographed out and about over the last few months, whether it's poolside or hanging out at Aniston's former 'Friends' co-star Courteney Cox's house. Neither have commented publicly on the relationship. In an interview with Britain's Telegraph newspaper, Mayer discusses the public's perception of him these days, now that he's gone through a handful of A-list girlfriends. He swears that he's "never cheated on anybody," and that "instead of worrying about career damage," he's simply "dated women."He goes on to explain his view as such: "All I've ever done was decided that I fancied somebody, and said, 'Would you like to go out and get a meal somewhere?' And done so in a social setting, where other people can see you. And then maybe 'Would you like to go have another meal?' Maybe did that a few times."Mayer insists he's loyal to his girlfriends, saying the when he realizes he was done with the relationship, he tells them he'd "rather be a great friend to you than a bad boyfriend."Photo Gallery

LOS ANGELES (June 25) - Coldplay's new album is already living the life."Viva La Vida" will debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart with over 720,000 copies sold in its first week, the second-best opening week of 2008, according to the trade magazine's Web site. Louis Vuitton Nixes Navarro's Straps

(June 23) -- It's hard being a fashionable rocker these days. Thanks to a cease-and-desist-type letter from infamous baggage company Louis Vuitton, Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro can no longer sport his faux-LV guitar straps on stage. Navarro, who says he was "shocked" by the letter's nasty tone, is now taking his own shots against the chic company's tactics on his blog.
Navarro, who calls it "the end of an era," says that the letter implied he will be sued if he does not stop using the knockoff straps, of which, according to the letter, the "copying has been willful and is intended to trade upon the fame and cachet of the LV Trademarks to elevate the status of the infringing Guitar Strap, and of Jane's Addiction."Navarro, who says he will willingly stop using the straps, thinks it's all a big overreaction."So heavy and serious!!!! Lighten up guys!" he says to Louis Vuitton, saying that he owns "many items," but questions whether the LV brand can help elevate Jane's Addiction's status in rock folklore. "I mean, are they f----- kidding me? Has anybody EVER purchased a concert ticket or an album based on what is hanging around the guitar player's neck? Ever?"Navarro says the whole incident "wouldn't be such a ridiculous deal" if they called and asked nicely, as opposed to the threatening legal letter. "The whole 'Exhibit A' thing combined with their legal tone was just ludicrous enough to make me post the document here!" he said.

Blogs Ponder Who Molested the 'Coreys'

(June 23) -- A fight between actors Corey Feldman and Corey Haim on their reality show 'The Two Coreys' opened up old wounds, and their shocking admission of rape and molestation has some bloggers throwing Michael Jackson's name into the mix thanks to his long-standing friendship with Feldman. On Sunday's episode of 'Coreys,' Feldman threatened that he can "destroy" Haim, who then fires back with astonishing claims. "You let me get f----- around in my life, raped so to speak, when I was about 14-and-a-half ... by a guy you still f------ hang out with," Haim says. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. What did you do? You knew about it -- aside from being his best friend," he continues. It's this person that some suspect is Jackson.
Dlisted poses the question by asking: "I'm guessing the accused child toucher's name rhymes with HACKO?" Radar presumes the Haim molester is "almost certainly a popular entertainer." Defamer details the scenario by remembering that Feldman has discussed Jackson in the past, describing what the blog refers to as "several instances of R.E.M. (rapidly encroaching Michael)."Feldman has been friends with Jackson since childhood and even testified in the pop singer's molestation trial. It's this tie that has many bloggers speculating that Haim is referring to Jackson as the person who "raped" him. After hearing Haim's assertions, Feldman fires back with a confession of his own. "I was being molested at the same time by somebody else ... what did you do?" he says. This Week in Pop Culture History 9.30This Week in Pop Culture History 9.30

Rapper 50 Cent Ordered to Forfeit Guns

NEW YORK (June 21) - U.S. rapper 50 Cent was ordered to surrender any guns he might have after a judge Friday issued a temporary restraining order requested by the rapper's ex-girlfriend, lawyers said.
A lawyer for the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, said he would contest the order and that 50 Cent did not have guns or access to guns. "To my knowledge, he has no guns," said lawyer Brett Kimmel. The order bars 50 Cent from being in contact with Shaniqua Tompkins, the mother of his 10-year-old son, without the court's permission, lawyers said.50 Cent and Tompkins have been locked in a legal fight over money. Tompkins has argued that she is entitled to half of 50 Cent's estate, based on an oral agreement. The dispute escalated last month after a fire destroyed the rapper's $2.4 million Long Island home, where Tompkins lived with their son.Police said they were investigating the fire as suspicious.50 Cent Snapshots

"It's nothing more than an attempt to rehabilitate his image."Since his debut album in 2003, 50 Cent has built a business with a record label, a clothing and footwear line, ringtones and video games. 'Democracy' Spreads Online -- Sorry, Axl

(June 20) -- Nine purported "mastered, finished" tracks from Guns N' Roses' 14-years-in-the-making album "Chinese Democracy" have been leaked online by the Web site Antiquiet.com, prompting a quick cease-and-desist from the band's handlers and the removal of the links.
Six of the songs have already leaked in one unfinished form or another: "Better," "The Blues," the title track, "Madagascar," "IRS" and "There Was a Time." But these versions appear to be much further along on the path toward completion, and feature new touches like organ and tambourine on "IRS" and a beefed-up chorus with multi-tracked vocals on "Madagascar."The three previously unheard songs are "Rhiad and the Bedouins," "If the World" and a track whose title is unknown."Rhiad," which was played live by Guns N' Roses in 2001 and 2002, is a pounding rocker with a trademark down-and-dirty main guitar riff and a flashy solo. "If the World" is a head-spinning blend of flamenco guitar, industrial synth tones, bluesy piano licks and singer Axl Rose at the top of his vocal register, while the unnamed track is an even more unusual melange of piano-led crooning, orchestral bombast and a serene instrumental outtro."Chinese Democracy," the follow-up to the 1991 "Use Your Illusion" albums, will likely go down as the album with the most troubled birth in rock history. Work began way back in 1994, and since then, Rose has burned through a reported $13 million in production costs as well as every original member of the group.

Lil Wayne Sells 1 Million in First Week

NEW YORK (June 18) - Lil Wayne now has official numbers to back up his bragging - the rapper's new CD has sold a spectacular 1 million copies its first week.
"Tha Carter III" is easily the best selling first week of the year, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures. Even Kanye West's "The Graduation" didn't eclipse that mark in its first week last year (though it was only about 50,000 copies short).A prolific rapper who's been ubiquitous on the mixtape scene and on other acts' records, Lil Wayne is generally regarded as one of rap's most gifted performers - but he's never had a multiplatinum album. His last two albums, "Tha Carter" and "Tha Carter II," sold 1.1 million and 1.4 million copies, respectively. "Tha Carter III" was anticipated as the CD that would send the New Orleans rapper into superstardom."I've been saying a million all along, and I've been telling people, and they've been looking at me crazy," said Ron Williams, co-founder of Lil Wayne's record label, Cash Money Records."He worked hard. He just came with something different. He let his skills show on a lot of mixtapes. He's featured on a lot of people's records," Williams said. "It just made people anticipate his record more than ever."Already, Lil Wayne's had a No. 1 smash for several weeks - the sexually explicit "Lollipop" - and has been featured on numerous hits over the past year, including the recent remix to Usher's "Love in This Club."In a slumping industry where selling 200,000 albums in one week is becoming a rare feat, Lil Wayne's achievement is not only a triumph but a much-needed boost - the last CD to sell 1 million or more in its first week was 50 Cent's "The Massacre" in 2005.Expectations for "Tha Carter III" were high, and it delivered - selling 423,000 copies in its first day of release. It achieved blockbuster numbers despite being heavily bootlegged and leaked on the Internet; past leaks of material for the CD caused parent label Universal Motown to delay its release several times.Lil Wayne, 25, has been a star on the rap scene since he was a teen, but only in recent years has his star rivaled that of contemporaries like West, a contributor on his new CD.

Coldplay Accused of Stealing 'Vida' Tune

(June 17) -- In the old days, ripping off of a random, obscure band may have been easy going for bigger acts. Now, in the age of YouTube, not so much.Coldplay is the latest major band to be accused via YouTube of stealing music, as Brooklyn-based rockers Creaky Boards have posted a side-by-side comparison of their song with Coldplay's hit single and iTunes ditty "Viva la Vida." Ironically, the title of the Creaky Boards song is ... wait for it ... "The Songs I Didn't Write."
While the songs do indeed sound the same, it's tough to confirm whether there's any legitimacy to the Creaky Boards claim, as the song in question was never released on an album. In the video, the band posts what they say is footage of them performing the tune in 2007, even claiming that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was in the crowd."We were flattered when we thought we saw Chris Martin in the crowd that night. He seemed pretty into it. Maybe too into it," a caption on the video reads. The YouTube "my tiny band's song and your big song side-by-side" defense has been a recurring event lately. Avril Lavigne was the first major act to get the treatment on YouTube, as her hit 'Girlfriend' was supposedly stolen from The Rubinoos' 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.' Since Lavigne, Miley Cyrus and Jessica Simpson both faced the same critiques.Coldplay Live

Kanye's Delays Peeve Bonnaroo Crowd

MANCHESTER, Tenn. (June 16) - Kanye West's late night performance at Bonnaroo was delayed nearly two hours, angering the festival crowd who responded by chanting "Kanye sucks" and pelting the empty stage with glow sticks.West had been scheduled to take the main stage at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival at 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning. While the sleepy thousands in the audience waited, a message on the jumbotrons told them West's show would be delayed until 3:15 a.m., and when that didn't happen, that he would start at 3:30. West didn't hit the stage until 4:25 a.m.
The delay was caused by problems setting up West's elaborate stage set, which included an interplanetary landscape of a wavy black platform with a slanted floor in the middle and a video screen above. West performed a spectacular galactic-themed concert complete with interaction with his spaceship, a disembodied female voice named Jane (a kind of sexier HAL).Ken Weinstein, a spokesman for the annual festival held on a 700-acre site south of Nashville, said the delay was simply a matter of unloading the Pearl Jam stage (the band went an hour past its scheduled end time, playing until about 1:15 a.m.) and loading the West stage. The festival, which boasted more than 150 acts spread out over four days, was otherwise very punctual. The West delay was all the worse because of its already very late schedule, and many campers lost energy before the concert and returned to their sleeping bags. Midway through his performance, the morning light showed that the crowd had dwindled substantially.West had originally been slated to perform at 8:15 p.m. Saturday night, but requested a late night performance. At least in the first hour of his performance, West didn't address the crowd regarding the delay.Photo Gallery

Wilson Thanks New Diet for Lost Lbs.

(June 12) - Carnie Wilson has lost 15 pounds on her latest weight-loss journey thanks to a new diet. The singer, who had gastric bypass surgery in 1999 and went from 300 pounds down to 146, bravely admitted to OK! two months ago that she had “hit rock bottom” again, tipping the scale at 208 pounds. OK! exclusively caught up with Carnie at her home in Tarzana, Calif., as she prepared a figure-friendly squash meal with her adorable daughter, Lola, 3, and explained how she recently dropped down to 193 pounds with the help of a nutritionist and a new workout regimen.
On Her New Attitude: I have a completely different mind-set. A month ago, I started doing organic -- no dairy, no carbs, no refined sugar, no red meat -- so my diet’s really limited. I turned 40 in April and something clicked. I started having those feelings that I had before gastric bypass where I just didn’t have any control over food."On Her New Diet: "Breakfast is two egg whites and one whole egg, scrambled with seasonings, two to three pieces of turkey bacon, and then a half a cup of mixed berries. A snack would be 15 raw almonds or four celery sticks with three tablespoons of sugar-free hummus. Lunch would be a salad of chopped kale, romaine and spinach, cucumber, celery, bean sprouts, raw mushrooms, broccoli sprouts. Then I will make a balsamic dressing from scratch. I sauté a 3-ounce patty of chicken breast and eat that with the salad. If I feel like I want something sweet, I’ll have a quarter cup of blueberries or strawberries. Then dinner will be another round of veggies. I’ll steam cauliflower, zucchini and some spinach. I’ll do a piece of protein with that, like 4 ounces of Chilean sea bass ... I’m trying not to eat after 7:30 p.m."On Her Success on the Diet: "I don’t wait till the last minute to eat. I measure my protein in 3-ounce patties and put them in the freezer and make them taste good without it being fattening. Also, I write down every single morsel of food that I put in my mouth. I used to give in and finish what my daughter had on her plate. If I had nervous energy, I would walk by and pick up anything I saw. Now if there’s pasta left on her plate, I just throw it out."On Her Exercise Plan: "I started doing a power-yoga DVD, 40 to 50 minutes a day, three or four days a week. I’m more calm, and I have more energy. I also exercise twice a week for an hour with my trainer, Lanre Idewu. We’re doing fast-paced walking, elliptical, lunges, squats and band resistance for my arms."On Her Next Goal: "I want to get pregnant again! I’ll be so healthy. I’m happy to feed the baby good food. I’m going to start trying in a few months. First, I’d like to take off another 20 or 30 pounds."See Photos From Wilson's Shoot With OK!This Week in Pop Culture History 9.30This Week in Pop Culture History 9.30
