Twain Talks About Her 'Broken Heart'

(June 6) -- Shania Twain is coming out for the first time since her split from her longtime husband Robert "Mutt" Lange was announced, addressing the hardship on her Web site.
"As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life. I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you," Twain writes to her fans. It's the first public statement from the country-pop superstar since the split, and the rumors of an alleged affair between Lange and a family secretary came to light.

Twain continues: "Your letters, emails and words of encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life."Going on, Twain says that she knows the best way for her to communicate is via music, which she says is "therapy, my passion, and my love." Twain says she looks "forward to sharing it" with her fans, and that she needs "some time to heal this broken heart."Twain and Lange were married for 14 years before the split and have a 6-year-old son, Eja D'Angelo.Although a reason for their breakup wasn't given specifically, many speculate that a relationship between Lange and Twain's personal assistant Marie-Anne Thiebaud was the cause.
