Love Music Hate Racism to launch election campaign with gig in Barking

Love Music Hate Racism to launch election campaign with gig in Barking

Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) is pleased to announce a diverse show at the Broadway Theatre, Barking on Saturday 17th April.

The gig is a positive response to the electioneering of the fascist British National Party (BNP) whose leader Nick Griffin plans to stand as an MP in this year’s general election. The BNP have spread their message of hatred and racism across the borough for too long, this is our response.

'Love Music Hate Racism is not prepared to just sit back and let the BNP do their worst. To show our disgust we’ve teamed up with local activists and residents in Barking & Dagenham to bill a night which represents the diversity of the borough.' – Lee Billingham, National Organiser, Love Music Hate Racism.

The exciting LMHR gig consists of an eclectic line up which features artists local and national, young and old. including:

Jerry Dammers (DJ-set)
The King Blues
Griminal
Ghetts
Where's Huey?

At the top of the bill we have the legendary Jerry Dammers, a founding member of the Specials and writer of 'Free Nelson Mandela' Jerry is no stranger to the anti-racist movement, playing countless LMHR gigs over the years. He’ll be spinning tracks from ska, rocksteady and dub, to dancehall, dubstep and jungle.
