John Mayer is donating a song to Haiti
The 32-year-old singer has agreed to waiver royalty payments when 'The Heart of Life is used in a new public service announcement by the American Red Cross, which encourages people to donate money to the earthquake-stricken nation and has also given the organisation $500,000 to help their relief effort.
Gail McGovern, president of the American Red Cross, said: 'Terrible times like these bring out the best in people, and we are grateful for every gift given to the American Red Cross.
'We thank John Mayer for his generosity hes lent his time, talent and money. With his help and that of so many others, well do everything we can to help the people of Haiti cope and recover.'
Following on from the disaster in Haiti, which has left millions homeless and hundreds of thousands dead or injured, John took to twitter to praise the American public for their generosity.
He said: 'Proud to live in a country where even in one of the worst economic times, we pool together millions of dollars to help others.'
