Spandau Ballet win FORTH2 Contribution to Music Award

Spandau Ballet win FORTH2 Contribution to Music Award

Sugababes, Spandau Ballet, The Noisettes and Amy Winehouse’s goddaughter Dionne Bromfield are among the big names appearing at the Radio Forth Awards, this Wednesday 18th November at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh.

The seventh annual Radio Forth Awards, sponsored by Blackhorse Finance, celebrate the best in music, sports and entertainment and also honour local heroes from communities in and around Edinburgh. The ceremony is held to raise money for the Radio Forth charity, Cash for Kids and the awards are voted for by listeners of the station.

Sugababes will pick up the 'Forth One Best Artist Award’ as well as perform at the glitzy event – the Scottish debut performance with their new line-up of Heidi, Amelle and Jade.

The 'FORTH2 Contribution to Music Award’ will be awarded to music legends Spandau Ballet. The band have recently made a triumphant return with their new top ten album 'Once More’ and will thrill the audience with a rendition of some of their classic hits.

The Noisettes blistering set at T in The Park saw listeners choose them for the FORTH2 Best Performance Award’, while comedian Adam Hills hugely successful Edinburgh Fringe Show sees him win the Forth One Fringe Award. Both acts will also perform at the glitzy awards bash. Rising star Dionne Bromfield will also perform. The 13 year old singer is the god daughter of Amy Winehouse and has been tipped for stardom.

But it’s not only the great and the good of the music world that’ll be celebrated. The Radio Forth Awards also honour Edinburgh’s local heroes, among them Collydean Primary School’s Miss Syme who wins The Best Teacher Award and the Green Watch at Tollcross Fire Station who pick up the Local Hero Award (in memory of Euan Williamson).

Gail Porter will present Forth One’s Best Place To Work Award to Apex Hotels while the popular Dynamic Earth will scoop Forth 2’s Favourite Visitor Attraction.
