The singer celebrated his 22nd birthday in Los Angeles on Sunday night where he was seen cuddling up to the American Idol winner. Jason was on tour in Europe on his actual birthday of September 21 but he was back in Hollywood over the weekend to spend time with his lady love. He celebrated at celebrity hotspot Phillipe Chow with friends and music industry executives and could not seem happier to be publicly showing his love for the No Air singer. 'Jordin would sing to him occasionally through the night in his ear if her head was nested on his shoulder,' an eyewitness told People magazine who announced the news. 'He was excited to spend some [quality time] with Jordin in LA. The two left together and continued the celebration.' However, during a recent trip to England, Derülo said that he had not yet found his 't Girl' as he sings about in his hit single. Lou Reed and Metallica album art banned by London Underground
Email this story Printable version Metallica have announced a special collaboration with Lou Reed. Entitled "Lulu," to be released on October 31st. You will be able to see them for yourself when they play on Later..with Jools Holland on November 8th. London Transport banned the artwork posters from all Underground stations, stating that it looked too much like graffiti, you can judge for yourself here: www.loureedmetallica.com. "Lulu" was inspired by German expressionist writer Frank Wededkind's plays "Earth Spirit" and "Pandora's Box," which tell a story of a young abused dancer's life and relationships and are now collectively known as the "Lulu Plays." Since their publication in the early 1900's, the plays have been the inspiration for a silent film ("Pandora's Box," 1929), an opera, and countless other creative endeavours. Originally the lyrics and musical landscape were sketched out by Lou for a theatrical production in Berlin, but after coming together with the 'Tallica boys for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concerts in New York in 2009 all guilty parties knew they wanted to make more music together. Lou was inspired enough by that performance to recently ask the band to join him in taking his theatrical "Lulu" piece to the next level and so starting in early May of this year they were all camped out recording at HQ studios in Northern California, bringing us to today and ten complete songs. The band have announced shows in San Francisco from Dec 5th - 10th for the clever price of $19.81 to mark their 30th anniversary. They will also be playing shows in India and Abu Dhabi in the next few months. Kelly Clarkson: I cant compete with Lennon
Email this story Printable version Kelly Clarkson doesn't think her 'fun' pop music can compete with John Lennon's lyrics. The American songstress rose to fame after winning the inaugural season of hit show American Idol in 2002. Kelly is renowned for her rock ballads and uplifting pop songs. The 29-year-old singer says comparisons shouldn't be drawn between songs in the charts today and those created by legends such as The Beatles or Bob Dylan. ' mean maybe,' she replied when asked if there's too much pressure on artists to produce good music nowadays. 'But I'm not one of those... I'm making pop music, and I mean, we're not writing Imagine by John Lennon here... 'What I'm saying is, I'm not trying to be Bob Dylan. My goal is to make ' and the music I like ' is fun, mainstream music. That's what I'm meant to do.' Kelly is known for her tear-jerking ballads, and she has discussed kissing habits. The star finds it incredibly odd when people lock lips with their eyes still open. '[It's] that thing about people who kiss with their eyes open! If you kiss with your eyes open there's something really wrong with you psychologically. I mean, who kisses with their eyes open?' she quipped in an interview with NME magazine. 'That would be so weird, you're so close.' © Cover Media To be in with a chance of winning 1000 CDs including rare, signed and promotional copies simply 'like' our Award Winning facebook page here! Lady Gaga smitten with new man
Email this story Printable version Lady Gaga is reportedly 'talking about [the] future' with new boyfriend Taylor Kinney. The American songstress and The Vampire Diaries actor met while shooting her music video You and I in July. The pair quickly hit it off and are said to be getting along great. A source has revealed that the relationship is already escalating to new levels. 'Gaga and Taylor hit it off immediately,' a source told more! magazine. ' wouldn't be surprised if they were already talking about their future together.' The source continued that the relationship between Gaga and Taylor is odd, considering she was recently still struggling with her break-up from on/off beau Lüc Carl. Gaga and Lüc had been dating since 2005. Their first highly-publicised split occurred when she achieved stardom following the success of her debut album The Fame in 2008. Last year, several reports claimed they were back together. 't's weird because Gaga wrote You and I a year ago, about her relationship with Lüc. At the time they were crazy about each other, but they broke up in May,' the source revealed. 'Gaga's obviously been devastated about the split. I think she's even been crying herself to sleep.' The source says that Taylor is helping Gaga move on from her relationship with Lüc. The eccentric star previously revealed that her first love in life is her music career, but according to reports, she is succumbing to her emotions. 'She was saying she'd never fall in love again, because she's married to her career. I think that was a lot of the problem with Lüc ' she was just too busy,' the source explained. 'However, when Gaga and Taylor met, it seems things felt too right to ignore. And being in the industry himself, he understands her hectic schedule.' Gaga and Taylor have been spotted numerous times together, including a visit to a local beachside in Mission Viejo, California, to have a drink earlier this month. © Cover Media To be in with a chance of winning 1000 CDs including rare, signed and promotional copies simply 'like' our Award Winning facebook page here! The Undertones continue to celebrate their 35th Anniversary
Email this story Printable version Seminal Derry band The Undertones continue to celebrate their 35th Anniversary following the heavy demand for tickets for their April 2011 shows with more shows scheduled for December 2011. Like the April shows they will play their debut album, 'The Undertones', in its entirety and appeal for members of their original fan club to get in touch. It's been a long road from their first show in February 1976 at St Mary's Scout Hall in Derry but 2011 has seen resurgence in interest in the band with shows in the UK, Europe and America. As in April the band are keen to reacquaint themselves with members of their former fan club, the 'Rocking Humdingers Club', and have put out a Missing Persons Search. Mickey Bradley of the band said: ''We recently came across the original membership book from 1982 containing the names of the Rocking Humdingers and thought it would be good to see them again. Leona Lewis talks about Simon Cowell, London riots and life since X Factor
Email this story Printable version Taken from Leona's cover shoot interview for Rollacoaster, out next week, she said: On Simon - "He is really good to have on side and I guess he really believed in me since the beginning and has always backed me up" On being called "boring" - "I've read it, especially from one journalist who has never actually met me. But it doesn't bother me. I'd rather be seen like that than a harsh, brash person. If my friends said that then I'd have something to worry about!" On the London riots - "You have to remember (Hackney) is a very poor area and they're taking away funding for youth programmes but I just think (rioting) was literally some hoodrats that jumped on the bandwagon to go a bit insane. There are actually some really lovely areas in Hackney" Since X Factor - "I've come a long way since then and I've grown as a performer, as a singer, everything. I was in that weird teenage-adult stage for a long time - making decisions that perhaps weren't right, but I've realised in the last couple of years that I have grown up and I know myself so much more" To be in with a chance of winning 1000 CDs including rare, signed and promotional copies simply 'like' our Award Winning facebook page here! Madonna: love requires compromise
Email this story Printable version Madonna feels 'lucky' in love, family and career, but admits that balancing obligations is difficult. Madonna has an 11-year-old son, Rocco Ritchie, and a daughter, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, who will turn 15 in October. She is also in a committed relationship with dancer Brahim Zaibat. Following the release of her most recent directorial endeavour, W.E., at the Venice Film Festival, Madonna is in high spirits about her life. ' have all three; love, children and work. Lucky me,' Madonna said to British newspaper the Daily Mail. 'You can [have all three] - but what you can't then expect is a good night's sleep.' Madonna has worked at finding equilibrium in her life for years. Balancing relationships, children and career is a sensitive task for the star, but Madonna believes that she has discovered a foolproof approach. 'The older I get, the more I understand about the nature of relationships and how to have a successful one,' Madonna explained. 'The more I realise that it has to do with compromise and sacrifice and that's just the way it goes. And unless you want to be alone for the rest of your life you have to realise that.' Madonna is not willing to forfeit happiness for any reason. Career, family and love are equally important to the star. 'Either the kids aren't going to be getting all your attention, or the man isn't or the job isn't and I can't contemplate living without all three,' Madonna said. ' can't imagine not having children. I can't imagine not being in love and I can't imagine not being creative and doing the work I do.' Compromise works well for Madonna. She loves all three aspects of her life so much that she is willing to be flexible to keep her clan happy and career moving forward. 'You can't always get what you want, but compromise pays off in the end, right?' Madonna said. 'Give up a little bit here to see if you can get something there. It's about trade-offs and give and take.' To be in with a chance of winning 1000 CDs including rare, signed and promotional copies simply 'like' our Award Winning facebook page here! Laurie McAllister of the Runaways dies at 53
Email this story Printable version Laurie McAllister, the last bass player for the Runaways, passed away on August 25 in Eugene, OR due to complications of asthma. She was 53. McAllister was part of the L.A. punk scene, playing with Baby Roulette and the Rave Ons who had a song on one of Kim Fowley's (manager of the Runaways) compilations. A neighbor, Duane Hitchings who played keyboards on the album And Now...The Runaways, talked her up to the band when bass player Vicki Blue left the group due to illness. Laurie officially joined the band in November of 1978, playing live during the band's last tour with long-time members Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Sandy West. Her final show was on New Year's Eve at the Cow Palace in San Francisco before quitting. The band broke up four months later over disagreements on their future direction. Post-Runaways, McAllister joined the Orchids, another all-girl group managed by Fowley. Shortly after releasing their sole album in 1980, the group broke up and Laurie left the music industry to become a veterinary technician. Jett told the L.A. Times "I am so sorry to hear of Laurie's passing. She was a good person and a good bass player. It was a great experience being in a band with her, as she was the last Runaways bass player before her own band, The Orchids, formed. I was still in touch with her and saw her last year at a show. It was as if no time had passed. My heart goes out to her family and friends, and most of all, to Laurie. Rock on girl." Kim Fowley said "Laurie was one of the tragic figures in rock 'n' roll, who did everything right - she looked the part, she wrote the part, she performed the part, she sang the part - but never with the right people at the right time. She was a giant of a woman: good-looking, smart, and larger than life." Beyonce Knowles excited for motherhood
Email this story Printable version Beyoncé Knowles 'can't wait' to be a mother. The singer announced at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) last weekend that she is expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z. Sources close to the couple say they are overjoyed at the prospect of starting a family and feel it is the 'perfect' time to have a baby. 'She and Jay also wanted to focus on their careers and enjoy the first years of their marriage,' a source told OK! magazine. 'Now, with everything so perfect in both those regards, she can't wait to be a mom.' A host of stars have expressed their delight following Beyoncé's announcement. Her Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have both sent their well wishes, along with Rihanna and even Oprah Winfrey. 'Her phone hasn't stopped ringing,' the source added. 'She's received dozens of bouquets of flowers, teddy bears, fruit baskets, you name it.' The 29-year-old star has reduced her work schedule for the coming months, to ensure she has enough time to look after herself during the pregnancy. She is determined to remain stress free and enjoy the experience. It is rumoured Beyoncé and Jay-Z have asked Kanye West to be the baby's godfather. However, there is also speculation they are also considering their close friends Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. Fergie has hotel dates with husband
Email this story Printable version Fergie and Josh Duhamel reportedly check into a hotel once a week to keep the romance in their marriage alive. The Black Eyed Peas singer and her husband apparently ensure that they have alone time at least one night a week. Although the couple both have busy schedules, they know that it's important to find time for each other. 'They make a point of setting aside one night a week for date night,' Star magazine reports. 'Apparently no matter what projects the two are involved in, once a week they check into a luxury hotel under the names of Jack and Jill Hill. 'They then spend nearly 24 hours with no distractions, dedicating their time to romance.' Even if the pair have a lot on, they try their hardest to stick to this ritual. It means they are sometimes up incredibly early, but they apparently think it's worth it. 'They arrive separately and usually check out at an ungodly hour, just before the body-conscious joggers hit the streets of LA.' Drake: Bieber should cuss like me
Email this story Printable version Drake thinks it would have been 'so G' if Justin Bieber had kept the remix of his song Trust Issues unedited. Justin debuted the track over the weekend, with many wondering if he would keep the song's profanities in. However, the Canadian singer decided to refrain from using the swear words, instead opting for a different take on the lyrics. Drake wishes Justin had kept the song in its original form. "I wish he would've left all the cuss words in it. I feel like that would've been so G, if he would've done all the swearing," he told MTV News. "I was excited when I heard he remixed it, because there was like a gang of swearing in that song. I was like, 'Oh, we're about to hear the transformation of Bieber.'" Justin changed the context of the lyrics throughout. Drake's version includes the line: "You know what I'm sippin'/ I teach you how to mix it/ But you're the only one, 'cause I don't trust these b***hes." Justin is renowned for his religious upbringing and clean living and modified the lyrics in his version to: "You just need to listen/ Teach you how to fix it/ 'Cause you're the only one, because I don't trust these women." Drake was impressed with Justin's effort. The American rapper says the teen sensation's remake of the song was credit to his talent. "He's like a talented kid... from Canada, so to hear him even remix that song is crazy," he said. "That's incredible." © Cover Media To be in with a chance of winning 1000 CDs including rare, signed and promotional copies simply 'like' our Award Winning facebook page here! Nick Cannon disappointed not to show off watch
Email this story Printable version Nick Cannon is devastated his $250,000 watch didn't show up on television. The star hosts television programme America's Got Talent, which aired last night. He decided to wear his new timepiece, but couldn't believe it when he realised his sleeve hid the face. The watch is as wide as Nick's wrist and covered in diamonds and sparkles. The star took to Twitter to show it off to fans instead. 'A little mad because on television you couldn't see my Gucci G's,' he wrote. 'For those asking my watch is a Frank Mueller. It's Frankie Baby! $250 thousand. Not bragging just facts (sic)!' Nick included a link to a picture of the watch. While several fans were amazed by the expensive piece of jewellery, one person couldn't believe the 30-year-old had splashed such a huge amount on it. The star knows he's really treated himself, but insists that's fine as he also donates money to good causes whenever possible. 'This is what frivolous spending looks like! Don't worry, we balance it out with tons of philanthropy. #NCREDIBLE (sic)!' he wrote. Singer Susan Boyle found fame on the UK version of the programme. She stunned with her beautiful rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from musical Les Misérables. Last night she wowed with her song You Have To Be There, but Nick has his own thoughts on why she was keen to be in the studio. 'Susan Boyle couldn't keep her hands off me!' he wrote on the social networking website. Jay-Z doted on pregnant Beyonce
Email this story Printable version Jay-Z was the 'doting' father-to-be to pregnant wife Beyoncé Knowles over the weekend. The rapper was reportedly very attentive to the singer who announced she was expecting their first baby at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. An eye-witness told Us Weekly that backstage Jay-Z could not do enough for his expectant partner. 'Jay was doting on her the whole time,' the source said. 'He was really taking care of her, asking her how she feels and helping her walk. It was so sweet to see him like that.' And the romance is definitely still burning brightly for the couple who have been together for nine years but married for three. 'He yelled, 'Mmm hmmm, Who's that sexy lady walking down here?' playing like he was flirting with her. It was so cute,' the insider revealed. Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles was also on hand as she looks forward to welcoming her second grandchild. 'She was on top of everything ' getting Beyoncé everything she needed. Between Jay and her mom, she was totally taken care of,' the source added. Cameras had panned to Jay-Z and his Watch The Throne collaborator Kanye West when Beyoncé showed off her burgeoning belly at the end of her performance, and Kanye looked ecstatic at his friends' happy news. 'Kanye looked the proud uncle,' the witness added while Beyoncé's Telephone duet partner Lady Gaga reportedly made several visits to the singer's dressing room. 'She kept coming over to rub Beyoncé's belly and say hello,' the witness shared. 'And the security guards thought she was a guy at first and wouldn't let her back! It was really funny.'
