George Michael admits to drug use

George Michael admits to drug use

GEORGE MICHAEL has openly spoken about his drug use and his sexual habits.

The singer admitted that taking drugs was "just who I am" and confessed that he was in possession of crack cocaine when he was arrested last year in public toilets at Hampstead Heath.

Speaking to the Guardian, the 46-year-old former Wham! star didn't reveal the last time he had smoked the drug, but said he had cut back on his cannabis intake from 25 joints a day to seven or eight.

Michael, who is due to release the single December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas) as a download on 13th December - his first Christmas song since his 'Last Christmas' hit with Wham! - said he once spent his life "existing on a balance of Starbucks and weed".

He also spoke frankly about cruising for men on the Heath in north London, and said it was about finding "quick and honest sex".

He added: "The handful of times a year it's bloody warm enough, I'll do it. I'll do it on a nice summer evening. Quite often there are campfires up there.

"It's a much nicer place to get some quick and honest sex than standing in a bar, E'd off your tits shouting at somebody and hoping they want the same thing as you do in bed."

Michael also hit out at Sir Elton John, who publicly said he feared for Michael's health.

He said: "Elton lives on that. He will not be happy until I bang on his door in the middle of the night saying, ’Please, please, help me, Elton. Take me to rehab.’ It’s not going to happen.

'Elton just needs to shut his mouth and get on with his own life. Look, if people choose to believe that I’m sitting here in my ivory tower, Howard Hughesing myself with long fingernails and loads of drugs, then I can’t do anything about that, can I?'

He added: 'People want to see me as tragic with all the cottaging and drug-taking... those things are not what most people aspire to, and I think it removes people’s envy to see your weaknesses. I don’t even see them as weaknesses any more. It’s just who I am."

It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era. I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special and funny! We’re still in the very early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!'

The former glamour model, 31, - who dumped cage-fighter Alex on live television last week after quitting UK reality TV show 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' – is struggling more with the aftermath of their split than she did when her marriage to the Australian singer ended earlier this year and hasn’t ruled out a reconciliation with Alex.

She told Britain’s Hello! magazine: "I was really falling for the guy and I can't switch off feelings just like that. So I'm not entirely ruling anything out anything between us.

"Strangely enough, I feel more hurt from this split right now than I did with Pete because I had known for some time from seeing a marriage counsellor that it probably wouldn't have lasted. Lots of things had happened, whereas with Alex, it seemed a fresh new start. "

Katie – whose divorce from the Australian singer was finalised in September – started dating Alex Reid only months are splitting from Peter.

Katy Perry’s parents urge Russell Brand to find God

Katy Perry’s parents urge Russell Brand to find God

Katy Perry’s parents are urging Russell Brand to 'go towards the light' and find God.

The pastor parents of the 'I Kissed A Girl’ singer recently met the British comedian – a former heroin addict and alcoholic, as well as a notorious womaniser - for the first time, and said they are willing to accept him despite his past.

Katy’s mother Mary Hudson said: 'Russell must go towards the light and not toward the darkness. Only God can take the very worst person and turn them around for good.'

The long-haired funnyman also swapped books with Katy’s dad Keith, who gave him a copy of 'The Cry’, his tome about helping people release the 'desperate longing for God’s intervention in your life'.

Russell, 34, gave him a copy of his autobiography, 'My Booky Wook’, which details his former life of drug binges and prostitutes.

Mary added to Britain’s The Sun newspaper: 'You just have to see how the Lord’s will is done. I mean, how many times have your kids disappointed you so profoundly you wanted to get up from the chair and knock them out?

'There are parts of the Russell’s book where he is hungry for positive influences in his life.'

Keith added he felt Russell has a 'spiritual hunger'.

Katy, Russell and her parents are presently holidaying in the ski resort of Ischgl in Austria, where she played at the resort’s opening concert.

At the concert she wore what she called her 'sl**ty sexy Santa outfit' and dedicated a song to 'all my ex-boyfriends' as Russell looked on from the concert’s sound booth. The pair then took to the slopes yesterday (30.11.09).

Russell has said he has 'never felt more settled and happy' than he is in his relationship with Katy.

Rolling Stones to go on new world tour

Rolling Stones to go on new world tour

The Rolling Stones are to go on a world tour in 2010.

The rock veterans – whose last tour finished in 2007 and earned them more than £300 million – are planning a mammoth run of shows next year, according to Ronnie Wood's cocktail waitress girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova.

The 20-year-old Russian waitress – who has been dating 62-year-old Ronnie since he walked out on his 23-year marriage to Jo Wood in July 2009 - has been a little indiscreet in letting the world know about their plans.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "She's not supposed to talk about it, things haven't been finalised but she couldn't resist telling a few friends."

Ronnie recently admitted he had been in touch with his Rolling Stones bandmates Sir Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts and insisted everything was 'great' between them, despite rumours he could be fired from the group because of his parting lifestyle.

Cerys Matthews gives birth

Cerys Matthews gives birth

Cerys Matthews has given birth to a boy.

The former Catatonia singer and her new son – who she has with her boyfriend-and-manager Steve Abbott – are both 'doing very well', despite going into labour eight weeks prematurely.

Cerys – who delivered her son on Monday (23.11.09) - said: 'How happy I am to let you know that our baby boy was born on Monday 23, eight weeks earlier than expected.

'We are doing very well and excited now to share this happy news with you.

'What an amazing surprise. Love always, Cerys and Steve.'

Cerys went into labour just days after co-presenting the charity telethon 'Children In Need’, at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on Friday (20.11.09).

The baby – who has not yet been named – is the first child for the couple.

The 40-year-old singer already has two children - daughter Glenys Pearl and son Johnny Tupelo Jones - with her ex-husband, American music producer Seth Riddle, while Steve, 49, has two children with his ex-wife Deborah.

Cerys and Steve originally kept news of the pregnancy secret, following concerns there could be complications with the pregnancy because of her age.

At the time a friend said: "Cerys and Steve are delighted - they could not be happier. They wanted to keep the situation under wraps until they were certain everything was going smoothly.'
