Natalie Cole Diagnosed With Hepatitis C

NEW YORK (July 16)- Grammy-winning singer Natalie Cole has been diagnosed with hepatitis C, her publicist said in a statement Wednesday.Hepatitis C is a liver disease spread through contact with infected blood. The statement said the disease was revealed during a routine examination and was likely caused by her drug use years ago."I've been so fortunate to have learned so much from my past experiences," said Cole. "I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends; I am committed to my belief in myself and in my abiding faith to meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination. This is how I intend to deal with this current challenge in my life."
Dr. Graham Woolf, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA/Cedars Sinai Medical Center, said that Cole has had a "terrific response to her medication and is now virus negative.""This gives her an increased chance of cure," he said. "But, she has also suffered significant side effects from the anti-viral medicine, which is the only FDA authorized treatment for hepatitis C. Her side effects include fatigue, muscle aches and dehydration but she is recovering from these."Cole, 58, the daughter of jazz legend Nat King Cole, has sold millions of records over her long career. She is due to release "Still Unforgettable," the follow-up to 1991's Grammy-winning, multiplatinum CD "Unforgettable ... With Love," on which she remade some of her father's classics, in September. On the Net:http://www.nataliecole.com

Hendrix's Torched Guitar Up for Grabs

LONDON (July 16) - One of Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitars, set on fire on a London stage more than 40 years ago and thought to have been lost forever, is to be auctioned later this year. The guitar, a 1965 Fender Stratocaster, was famously doused with lighter fluid and set ablaze by the rock legend during a one-off performance at London's Finsbury Astoria in March 1967.
Hendrix had to be rushed to the hospital with minor burns to his hands after the stunt, and the guitar, slightly damaged along the neck and pickboard, was recovered by his staff. It eventually ended up in the hands of his press officer, Tony Garland, who stored it in his parents' garage, where it remained until it was unearthed last year by Garland's nephew. The guitar is among a range of rock memorabilia to be auctioned by the Fame Bureau in London on Sept. 4. Its value is estimated at 500,000 pounds ($1 million). Other lots include the Doors frontman Jim Morrison's last notebook of poems."When Hendrix set this guitar alight it marked a watershed in live performance," said Ted Owen, director of acquisitions at the auction house. "He raised the bar of what could be expected and paved the way for a series of imitations and pastiche that exist to this day."Hendrix, who died in 1970, burned two guitars on stage -- he repeated the stunt at a festival later in 1967 -- but the one to be auctioned is the only example that survives intact.A previous auction of a Hendrix guitar, known as the Woodstock Stratocaster, fetched $1.8 million.

Lil Wayne Eeks Out Coldplay on Charts

NEW YORK (July 16) - Rapper Lil Wayne led the U.S. pop album chart for a third non-consecutive week Wednesday, while Kid Rock's former chart-topper returned to the top five in its 40th week of release.Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III" sold 125,000 copies during the week ended July 13, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It has sold almost two million copies since its June 10 release.
The next two rankings were also unchanged: Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," which interrupted Lil Wayne's reign for two weeks, was at No. 2 with 113,000, and the Jonas Brothers-led soundtrack to the Disney Channel TV movie "Camp Rock" was at No. 3 with 88,000.Beck's "Modern Guilt" arrived at No. 4 with 84,000 copies. His previous set, 2006's "The Information," bowed at No. 7 but sold 99,000.Kid Rock's "Rock N Roll Jesus" rose two to No. 5 -- its highest rank since Christmas -- with 61,000 copies. Sales have been boosted by strong radio airplay for his Lynyrd Skynyrd/Warren Zevon-inspired single "All Summer Long." The album has sold almost 1.2 million copies to date. The multi-artist "Now 28" compilation held at No. 6 with 48,000 copies. The soundtrack to "Mamma Mia!," the film adaptation of the hit theatrical musical based on ABBA's songbook, debuted at No. 7 with 48,000. The film hits North American theaters on Friday, so there's a good chance the album could see a sizable gain on next week's chart. In its 58th week on the chart, Rihanna's "Good Girl Gone Bad" rose one to No. 8 with 47,000. Rap combo G-Unit's "T.O.S. (Terminate on Sight)" slid five places to No. 9 with 36,000 copies in its second week. John Mayer's "Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles" also tumbled five places in its second week, to No. 10; it sold 34,000 copies. At 7.33 million units, overall sales were down 3% from the previous week's sum, and off 11.7% from the same week last year.

Miley Hearts God and Bibles, Not Scandal

(July 15) -- On her new album 'Breakout,' Miley Cyrus croons about '7 Things' in life she hates about an ex ... but what's the one thing she couldn't live without? "The Bible," the scandal-prone teen starlet says in a new TV Guide interview, calling it her "‘how-to' guide for life." She also says that she wouldn't know what to do "without a God that blesses me with the ability to do this."
In the interview, Cyrus is hesitant to chat about her controversial Vanity Fair photo shoot, saying that her and her family "try to keep [that stuff] as much not talked about as possible." She does, however, chat about some possibly-too-mature-for-fifteen topics.Discussing why she wears a purity ring -- a piece of jewelry meant to symbolize one's belief of no sex until marriage -- Cyrus cites her peers as motivation. "Even at my age, a lot of girls are starting to fall, and I think if [staying a virgin] is a commitment girls make, that's great," the 15-year-old 'Hannah Montana' starlet said. But when it does come to interaction with boys, Cyrus says she likes to think of herself as "the girl that no one can get, that no one can keep in their hand."Overall, she says she just wants "to be a positive role model." Her upcoming album, 'Breakout,' is on sale July 22.Miley Cyrus Racy Photos

The seemingly endless stream of private Miley Cyrus photos continues. On Saturday a Web site called Digital Gangster posted photos that they allege were found by a hacker known as TrainReq in the memory of the singer's cell phone.

DigitalGangster.com

A few hours later the headline on the gossip site JustJared.com blared 'Miley Cyrus is Soaking Wet.' Jared speculated that the Cyrus' necklace that reads "NICK J" is proof that she dated the Jonas Brothers band member.

JustJared.com

it was only a matter of time before Perez Hilton shared them with the world, under the headline 'Miley Almost Naked!'

PerezHilton.com

In late May, scandal erupted when Vanity Fair published photos of Miley Cyrus, taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, where the teen was topless and covered with a cloth. Rekindling the scandal, Miley's father Billy Ray Cyrus says he "didn't know they were going to strip her down and wrap her in a blanket."

vanityfair.com

Billy Ray also caught flak for this Vanity Fair pose with his daughter, which drew criticism from many corners, even Howard Stern. "It looks like his daughter is his girlfriend," Stern said. Interest in the photos caused Vanity Fair's site to crash.

VanityFair.com

Renowned photographer Leibovitz defended her photographs. "I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful."

James Devaney, WireImage.com

On May 22, Miley and her penchant for self-taking scantily clad photos of herself has struck again, as new photos of the 15-year-old star raising her shirt and posing in underpants have hit the community site LiveJournal.

Community.LiveJournal.com

And in late April, photos of Cyrus flashing her bra and pulling up her shirt while draped across the lap of a male furthered the speculation that the singer-actress sensation may be more PG-13 or R than G-rated.

JustJared.com

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots," said Cyrus about the Internet photo scandal. The leaked pics didn't make a dent. Her 'Best of Both Worlds' CD was ranked near the top of the charts last week.

Kevin Mazur, WireImage.com

The madness all started when pPhotos of Cyrus in provocative poses first leaked near the end of January to gossip sites like TopSocialite.com.

Hilton Blogs to Fight Fake Headlines

(July 15) -- Warning: Paris Hilton is on the Internets, and she's angry. The socialite heiress turned reality-actress-musician is lashing out against all of the tabloid media rumors constantly being levied against her, saying on her MySpace blog that she is "blown away by more lies that are going around." She takes particular aim at the New York Post's Page Six column, saying: "I'm sick of Page Six and other gossip sites printing completely false stories."
Hilton goes on to specifically refer to a Page Six item that claimed she moved into boyfriend Benji Madden's Glendale neighborhood, which made Nicole Richie upset, according to the paper.Vowing to strike back against future falsehoods, Hilton says she's "tired of not commenting on the rumors I hear and I think it's fair for you to know the truth." The rash of false headlines is "not fair because these lies then spread like wildfire online and people begin to believe they are true, just because they read the same story on so many different sites."By the end of the post, Hilton lightens the mood by saying she is "thankful that I know who my true friends and colleagues are, and I encourage my fans to ignore worthless stories like this. There is too much going on in the world, and in your own lives, to waste time reading lies. Such a disappointment but as always, you'll get the true story from me!"Weekly Tabloid RoundupWeekly Tabloid Roundup

More Racy Miley Pics Hit the Internet

(July 13) -- Musicians through the ages have struggled with drugs, alcohol and their libidos. But Miley Cyrus is a different kind of pop star. Her greatest demon? Cameras.
Yet another batch of photos of Cyrus taken using her own cell phone have surfaced. These have been posted on a site called Digital Gangster and were allegedly found in the memory of Cyrus' phone by a hacker identified only as "TrainReq." The photos were quickly picked up by first Just Jared and then Perez Hilton. One photo, apparently taken by someone else, shows Cyrus wearing a T-shirt while taking a shower and in another she is blowing a kiss to the camera. A third photo shows her wearing a necklace that reads "NICK J," which JustJared speculates is proof that the 'Hannah Montana' star had in fact dated Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. The first racy photos of Cyrus surfaced in January, with more batches surfacing in April and May. At the time, Cyrus dismissed the pictures as "silly, inappropriate shots."Just when it appeared Cyrus' photo problems had cooled off this spring, there was a firestorm of controversy over pictures of her taken by Annie Liebovitz for Vanity Fair magazine. One photo showed Cyrus topless holding a cloth over her chest, while another showed her with her father in a pose some thought was more appropriate for romantic adults than a father and daughter. This Week in Pop Culture July 14 - July 20

Bon Jovi Rocks Central Park's Great Lawn

NEW YORK (June 13) - Bon Jovi rocked Central Park, New Jersey style. The rock group gave a free concert Saturday night on the park's Great Lawn, delighting tens of thousands of fans who sang along with the lyrics on a glorious summer evening.
The band opened with "Livin' on a Prayer" and belted out songs including "Born to be my Baby," "Lost Highway," and "Runaway."Jon Bon Jovi, for one, was relieved that a long tour was winding down."It's good not to call room service. I can tell you that, you know?" the singer said before the concert. "It feels real good not to dial 9 to get a cup of coffee. For me that was very nice this morning. But what a way to end up."We started 10 nights in New Jersey and ended up with the biggest show of the year in New York at Central Park on the Great Lawn. It's very rarified air, you know? We know there are only a half a dozen shows that have ever been on this grass."New York City officials gave away 60,000 tickets for the concert. Some 50,000 people were expected to attend. The free tickets were reportedly being hawked by scalpers on eBay for as much as $1,500 a pair.Bon Jovi said that drama did not put a damper on the show."No. I mean look, it's all behind us at this point," he told The Associated Press. "So we did what we could for our fans and for the people of New York and wanted to share a beautiful Saturday summer night with them."Hundreds of fans lined up early - in some cases as many as six hours before the show's 8 p.m. start. This Week in Pop Culture July 14 - July 20

Bro's Barrage Against Madonna Continues

(July 8) - With every passing day, more allegations about Madonna and the people in her life emerge from her brother Christopher Ciccone's unauthorized biography of the Material Girl, with the latest batch of accusations hitting her current and past men.Ciccone claims in 'Life With My Sister Madonna' that Madonna's current (and possibly soon-to-be ex) husband Guy Ritchie is homophobic, and that his machismo "swells noticeably" when he's around gay men. Ciccone is openly gay.
Ciccone also goes into Madonna's past, saying that her former husband Sean Penn once cornered him with a knife and forced him to be "blood brothers" by slicing their hands and rubbing the wounds together. Ciccone claims Penn later asked "You don't have AIDS, do you?"He also says that Madonna said she was "repeating Marilyn [Monroe] and the president," during her fling with John F. Kennedy, Jr, and that she isn't sure Carlos Leon -- the father of her daughter Lourdes -- "fulfills the intelligence requirement" she had when she was pondering a father figure.'Life With My Sister Madonna,' which hits shelves on July 15, also includes details on how the singer allegedly saved her 7-year-marriage to Guy Ritchie with counseling from a rabbi, her past lesbian flings with women, and her relationship with soon-to-be-divorced Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, Usmagazine.com reports.According to early looks at the book, Ciccone claims that the main problem between Ritchie and Madonna was their desire to raise their kids in different places. Rumors Made Kravitz Nearly 'Throw Up'

(July 9) -- Lenny Kravitz has a weak stomach when it comes to his name being dragged into a major divorce story.
According to a trainer who knows both Cynthia Rodriguez and Kravitz, Kravitz "looked like he was going to throw up" when he found out he would become part of Alex Rodriguez's highly publicized divorce. Even more interesting though is that Guy Oseary, who managed Kravitz, Madonna and Rodriguez, is the source behind the rumors linking the baseball slugger to Madonna.Donald Romero, a fitness trainer who recently accompanied Cynthia Rodriguez on a trip to Paris, says that Oseary was planning to "pimp out Madonna and A-Rod," and that Kravitz fired him shortly after finding out. Romero says Kravitz was devastated by the implication that he was involved with Rodriguez, saying "'I worked so hard to clean up my image and now I'm gonna get dragged into this.'"According to the New York Post report, Romero says Oseary planted the story because he was dumped.

Lawyers, Surfers Turn on the Paparazzi

LOS ANGELES (July 7) - For years Hollywood's paparazzi have hounded celebrities, but now -- with help from local politicians, a lawyer in the Monica Lewinsky case, and even Malibu surfers -- they are the ones feeling the heat.In Los Angeles and the nearby beachside enclave of Malibu, city leaders want to slap restrictions on the paparazzi citing safety concerns. But the paps, along with legal experts, say they are protected by their right to free speech under the U.S. Constitution.
"The paparazzo is just as much covered by the First Amendment as you or I, or any Joe Schmo up the street," said Lucy Dalglish, executive director of the Virginia-based Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press."I don't think under any First Amendment law you can single out a paparazzi photographer," she said.Still, many people are trying.Numerous Hollywood celebrities, ranging from Mel Gibson to Britney Spears, have homes in posh Malibu and as a result, it has become a magnet for photographers looking for stars. In late June, several Malibu surfers swarmed some paparazzi who had gathered at a beach to get shots of "Fool's Gold" actor Matthew McConaughey, 38, as he surfed.A fight ensued, was captured on video and posted online showing the shirtless surfers -- some apparently holding beer bottles -- battling with the photographers."No one who lives here wants you here," one surfer yells.TAXING THE PAPS
One week later, peace seemed to reign on Malibu's beaches as surfers handed out flowers to the paparazzi in a gesture of goodwill after the two groups traded threats online for days and as sheriff's deputies patrolled to prevent further fights.Still, Malibu officials are considering regulations that include buffer zones around certain areas, licensing photographers and taxing revenues from the photos they take.Malibu City Councilman Andy Stern supports new rules, but declined to say specifically what is under consideration. He told Reuters he himself has experienced perilous situations as paparazzi tailed celebrities on a key stretch of highway in Malibu."My obligation is to protect everyone, not just the paparazzi," Stern said. "If they want us to ignore them, that's just not going to happen."Malibu officials are getting advice from Kenneth Starr, the attorney whose investigation of former President Bill Clinton led to the uncovering of his sexual liaison with Monica Lewinsky and caused his impeachment. Starr is dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu.Earlier this year in nearby Los Angeles, City Councilman Dennis Zine proposed restrictions on the paparazzi, suggesting they be kept several feet away from stars they photograph."It's becoming more combative where people are saying they've had enough with these people," Zine said."Right now, you have no laws that really apply. You have a chaotic situation that keeps on getting worse," he said.Zine points to the 1997 death of Princess Diana, who was killed in the Paris car crash along with companion Dodi al-Fayed as the paparazzi pursued them, as an example of why Los Angeles needs restrictions on celebrity photographers.NOT SO FAST, COUNCILMAN
The number of paparazzi tailing Hollywood's young elite has swelled in recent years, and dozens of photographers often crowd celebrity hot spots. In decades past, top restaurants and clubs attracted only three or four.Starchasing is easier for the paparazzi in California and the United States than in some countries in Europe, where privacy laws favor stars. In France, for example, the paps often must get a celebrity's permission to take and distribute a picture.Lower costs for photo equipment and growing demand from magazine editors for shots of celebrities doing every-day things -- instead of looking coiffed on the red carpet -- also has contributed to the growing numbers of paparazzi."They want to see them with their hair kind of messed up, they want to see them with maybe some spaghetti sauce on their shirt, they want to see them a little bit pudgy," said Brad Elterman, co-owner of Los Angeles-based agency Buzz Foto.Paparazzi -- many of whom are immigrants -- can sell the same picture to different magazines and make thousands of dollars on a single shot, an income stream that affords top photographers nice cars and flexible hours, Elterman said."It's like the Mafia, once you're in you never want to leave," he said.Experts said that authorities in California could crack down on the paparazzi's excesses by enforcing current traffic and trespassing laws. Still, those clamp-downs would not affect the ease with which unflattering celebrity photos are transmitted on the Internet, or the public's demand for more."We're in an age where no one really knows where the lines can or should be drawn," said Gary Morgan, CEO of the L.A.-based celebrity photo agency Splash News.

Madonna, Guy Out Together in New York

(July 2) - Perhaps as an attempt to dispel rumors of their impending divorce, Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie stepped out for dinner in New York City last night. The couple hit an Italian restaurant on New York's Upper West side, and walked in holding hands, PEOPLE.com reports.
"They looked very unassuming. Not like they were looking for attention," a witness said."Everyone was whispering and saying, 'Wow, that was Madonna. She is supposed to be separating from her husband. I can't believe she is here," the same source added.Madonna's date night with Guy comes after allegations she was having an affair with Yankees' third baseman Alex Rodriquez. But the star denied those reports."Madonna and Alex have the same manager, Guy Oseary. They have met. They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week. There's really not anything to comment on beyond that," her rep told PEOPLE.Rodriguez himself refused to talk about any alleged relationship he may have with the singer."I'm not talking about it. No comment," the baseball player told the New York Post.

DMX Busted Yet Again in Arizona

LOS ANGELES (July 3) - Rap star DMX was arrested for failing to appear in court and other complaints at a Phoenix airport Wednesday, adding to his legal woes that include drug possession and animal cruelty charges.A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman said DMX, 37, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was taken into custody after getting off an airplane from Florida. Last week, he was arrested twice in that state, once for driving without a license and again in a drug bust.
In Phoenix, sheriffs arrested DMX for failure to appear in court, failure to pay fines and driving without a license, said Capt. Aaron Douglas, spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. The warrants are from past cases stemming from his arrests for marijuana possession and unauthorized driving of an all terrain vehicle (ATV), Douglas said.DMX's management company could not be reached for comment, and his attorney was not immediately available. The rapper, who has a home outside Phoenix, was arrested in Arizona in May on suspicion of drug possession and animal cruelty after searches of his home allegedly turned up weapons, drugs, dog carcasses and abused pit bulls.DMX barricaded himself in his bedroom at his home during that arrest, before eventually surrendering. But he gave himself up without incident on Wednesday at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, as he stepped off a plane after arriving from Florida, Douglas said.DMX pleaded guilty in New Jersey to animal cruelty charges in 2002 for neglecting a dozen pit bulls, according to news reports. As part of his sentence he was required to make a public service announcement against animal abuse. While he is best known as a rapper, DMX also has acted in several movies including "Romeo Must Die" and "Exit Wounds."Reuters/NielsenCelebs in Trouble

Lenny Joins Madonna A-Rod Rumor Mill

(July 3) - A-Rod and the Material Girl? That's a lot of hits. Reports that Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez and Madonna have become close just as their marriages are disintegrating have both the celebrity gossip industry and the sporting world - each a chatty bunch - buzzing with questions about the two "friends."A third boldface name was added to the saga when Rodriguez' wife fled from New York to the Paris home of rocker Lenny Kravitz, who denied anything improper had happened with the slugger's wife.
The story began last week amid tabloid stories that Madonna, who is married to the British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, had consulted a high-profile London divorce attorney. On Tuesday her publicist issued a statement saying Madonna's marriage was not in jeopardy. Then US Weekly magazine reported that Rodriguez, 32, has been making late-night visits to the Manhattan apartment of Madonna, 49.Janice Min, editor-in-chief of Us Weekly, said the magazine was "100 percent" confident in its story, which she said was based on multiple sources.Min said US Weekly has been careful not to overstate what's known of the relationship, which the latest issue labels a "hot new friendship.""The facts are that he comes to her apartment late at night, that they have a friendship, that she had never been photographed at a Yankees game until she was photographed in A-Rod's seats," said Min. "I think from those facts we put forth, a lot of people would infer that something more is going on."Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, acknowledged the two know each other after meeting at a charity event, but denied any romance. Rodriguez has refused to even address the topic when questioned by reporters, leading some to wonder if he could indeed be involved in the biggest Yankee romance since Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe. On Thursday, the New York Daily News reported that Rodriguez and his wife, Cynthia, have separated, citing an anonymous source. The couple was married in 2002 and has two children, Natasha Alexander and Ella Alexander. Then came news that Cynthia visited Kravitz in Paris.Weekly Tabloid RoundupWeekly Tabloid Roundup

"Cynthia is a friend ... she came here to escape from everything happening in New York City," Kravitz said in a statement. "I opened my home to her as a friend and I find it extremely hurtful that I am now being referred to as an adulterer."Coverage of the private lives of Yankees is not new, particularly in an era in which professional athletes are increasingly scrutinized off the field.Earlier this year, it was reported that former Yankee pitcher Roger Clemens had an affair with country music singer Mindy McCready. Derek Jeter's string of girlfriends have also received considerable press, most notably a relationship with another mega-selling singer, Mariah Carey.Rodriguez, however, has found himself in the tabloids more than any other Yankee since arriving in New York in 2004. Last year, he was labeled "Stray-Rod" on the front page of the New York Post after being photographed out at night with a former Vegas stripper. On Thursday, sports talk radio in New York was dominated by larger concerns: mainly the dim playoff prospects for both the Yankees and Mets. The sports blog Deadspin wondered Thursday how Rodriguez would be greeted by fans at Yankee Stadium in the team's upcoming series against the Boston Red Sox: "Will there be any cone bras in the stands? Sean Penn masks? The theme from `Evita' being sung by a heavenly choir of visiting Red Sox fans?"

Visa Denied, Boy George Cancels Big Tour

NEW YORK (July 1) - Boy George's plans for a North American tour have run into some bad karma. The Culture Club singer, whose given name is George O'Dowd, has canceled his summer plans after U.S. authorities denied him a visa to enter the country.
O'Dowd, 47, had planned to officially kick off his 25-city tour in Aspen, Colo., on July 10, and was to throw in a free concert at the New York City Department of Sanitation's Family Day in August. He worked for the department in 2006 while performing court-ordered community service in a drug case. That didn't appear possible, though, when last week O'Dowd's managers issued a statement saying he had been refused a visa because he's awaiting trial in London on charges that he falsely imprisoned a man. The Sun newspaper reported in April that a 28-year-old man claimed he was chained and threatened at O'Dowd's London flat, where he had gone to work as a photo model. The singer, whose hits include "Karma Chameleon," has pleaded not guilty."I was really hoping that the issue would be resolved and that some kind soul at the U.S. Visa Office would realize that if the police in the U.K. placed no restrictions on my movements, that should have been good enough for them," O'Dowd said in a statement Tuesday."I am very sorry that I will not see all my American fans this year, but I wish them a happy and healthy Fourth of July. I include the Visa Office in those good wishes and realize they are doing a very difficult job and I just got unlucky," he said.Meanwhile, O'Dowd intends to reschedule his North American tour for next winter. He'll continue his concert tours of South America and the United Kingdom in September and October.

Madonna's Rep Shoots Down Divorce, A-Rod Rumors

(July 1) - U.S. pop star Madonna and her husband, British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, are not planning to divorce, her spokeswoman said Tuesday, denying media speculation that their marriage is ending."There are no divorce plans," Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's publicist, said in a statement emailed to Reuters.
Rumors that the London-based couple planned to split have been circulating for months, fueled most recently by reports that the singer had lined up Fiona Shackleton, a lawyer for Paul McCartney in his bitter divorce from Heather Mills. The speculation reached a fever pitch last week in London, where the Daily Mirror newspaper dedicated two front pages to the plight of the couple's marriage.Guy Ritchie's mother has also blasted reports of a divorce, calling the stories "rubbish."Madonna, 49, and Ritchie, 39, married in December 2000 at Skibo Castle in northeast Scotland. They met at a party hosted by ex-Police frontman Sting and his wife Trudie Styler.Their son, Rocco, was several months old on their wedding day, and in 2006 Madonna applied to adopt David Banda, a boy from Malawi whose mother died shortly after his birth. The adoption was approved by a Malawian court in May.Madonna also has a daughter, Lourdes, from an earlier relationship. She was married once before, to Hollywood actor Sean Penn, in the 1980s.Madonna is one of the most successful rock stars of all time, with global album sales estimated at more than 200 million copies. A multi-Grammy award winner, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March.Ritchie is best known for his movies "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" (1998) and "Snatch" (2000), but he has come in for critical maulings since then, most notably when he directed Madonna in "Swept Away" (2002).Asked if he would ever work with his wife again, Ritchie told Reuters in an interview in late 2007: "I don't know. We don't want to stick our chins out again."Madonna's rep also shoots down rumors claiming the singer is involved with New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. Us reported the 'Material Girl' reportedly snuck the married A-Rod into her New York apartment building for solo visits, which has "all the doormen ... talking."Madonna and Rodriguez have also swapped tickets. He was seen at Madonna's concert in New York City on April 30, and Madonna was in A-Rod's seats for a Yankee game on June 22.

Pete Wentz Admits He's Kissed Guys

(July 1) - Before Pete Wentz wed Ashlee Simpson last May, he probably came clean about his kissing past. Specifically: he's made out with guys.In an interview with Out magazine, the Fall Out Boy bassist admitted that he was 16 or 17 when he first kissed a guy -- and it was on a dare. Wentz also said he continued experimenting through age 19. His last same-sex smooch?"A long time ago. Probably when I was 22?" said the 29-year-old Wentz, who also said he has a man-crush on fellow musician John Mayer.
In the interview, Wentz went on to downplay his same-sex adventures, insisting that he's always felt "this relentless heterosexual drive" -- despite discussing his "possible bisexuality" with Blender back in 2007."When I said that I make out with dudes, there was a slight sense of sexual rebellion in that," he told Out. "And I probably even made it a bigger deal than it was."
