Because the general public cares about Miley Cyrus. Sure, the media makes stuff up. But it doesn't make that stuff up.
"Yes, the public definitely care about Miley Cyrus," says Gerry Philpott, CEO of E-Poll Market Research. In fact, among Americans over age 13, 60 percent knew who she was even before she posed for that desperate Vanity Fair spread.
And it only got worse after that. "After Vanity Fair and her tour last year, Miley is now at 70 percent awareness," Philpott tells me. "People are still interested in her, no doubt."
Well, heck. At least she's pure.
