Katie Price and Alex Reid always apart

Katie Price and Alex Reid always apart

Katie Price and Alex Reid have 'barely seen each other' since they got married.

The cage fighter – who has just returned from a trip to India - says he his glamour model wife are trying to make the most of their time alone together after being apart for almost all the time since they married in a low-key ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this month.

He said: 'Katie and I have kept a low profile and we have pretty much stayed out of the papers, which is a nice change.

'We were invited to loads of parties but turned them down. We’d barely seen each other since our wedding, so we wanted to stay in and snuggle up on the sofa together.'

Despite barely seeing each other, the couple managed to spend Valentine’s Day (14.02.10) together – with the brunette beauty claiming her new spouse treated her much better than her ex-husband Peter Andre used to.

Alex added in his column for Britain’s Star magazine: 'I bought her loads of special treats for Valentine’s Day, which she really loved.

'She says I spoil her more than Pete ever did – which is very nice to hear. She’s definitely worth it.'

Katie – who has three children from her previous relationships - is also showing her generosity towards Alex, telling the 'delighted' cage fighter she wants a joint bank account.

He said: 'Kate has said that we are going to have a joint bank account and she wants everything we do to be equal from now on. This obviously means so much to me and I’m delighted she said that.'

Cheryl Cole to give Ashley another chance?

Cheryl Cole to give Ashley another chance?

Cheryl Cole may still give her estranged husband Ashley Cole another chance, it has been claimed.

The 'Parachute’ singer is said to be 'confused' over whether she should let the England soccer player explain his alleged infidelities with a number of other women and try one last time to save their troubled relationship.

A source said: 'He’s pleaded to meet Cheryl in the next three or four days for talks. He wants to state his case, and explain why he deserves another chance.

Another source added: 'Cheryl is in two minds. Her heart says 'yes’ but her head says 'no’. She is so confused.

'They have had the odd conversation on the telephone. But she doesn’t know if she can bear to see him just yet.'

Friends of 29-year-old Ashley – currently undergoing treatment for a broken ankle in France – have revealed he is refusing to take his wedding ring off, and is only just realising the pain he has caused his 26-year-old wife.

A pal told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'He knows he messed up royally. All the boys have been telling him he’s an idiot and that he’s blown the best thing that has ever happened to him - Cheryl. Ashley is filled with remorse.'

However, Cheryl’s mother Joan wants her daughter to cut Ashley out of her life.

She has stayed with the couple at their Surrey home since 2008 – when Ashley was first revealed to have cheated on his wife with hairdresser Aimee Walton – and is currently arranging for Ashley’s belongings to be moved out of the property as soon as possible.

A source said: 'Joan has been trying to do practical things like getting boxes for his stuff so that Cheryl doesn’t have to deal with it if she doesn’t want to.'

BBC to take Glastonbury to the world

BBC Worldwide Music will be the exclusive television and radio distributor for this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The BBC has for many years brought the festival to UK viewers, capturing brilliant concert footage and behind the scenes interviews with the bands.

Now for the first time, BBCW has gained the TV distribution rights and will be taking the festival to music fans worldwide.

BBCW Audio & Music have held the radio rights to broadcast the festival since 1985 and in this time have licensed the performances across 40 territories worldwide reaching an average of 40 million listeners.

As part of BBC Worldwide, Europe’s largest television distributor, BBCW Music has focused on growing its distribution business over the last two years and successes with top brands such as Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Top of the Pops has helped the business grow to become one of the UK’s top music television distributors.

This deal is a major landmark for this business and will see BBCW Music become the sole TV and radio distributor for the 40th Glastonbury Festival.

Leona Lewis finds skinny dipping 'liberating'

Leona Lewis finds skinny dipping liberating

The 'Happy’ singer admits she and her friends once stripped off and jumped into a swimming pool during a holiday to Portugal in order to cheer up one of their other pals.

She said: 'I was with some girlfriends in Portugal. One of my friends was going through a hard time with her boyfriend, so we thought let’s do something crazy. It was liberating.'

Leona – who has been dating electrician Lou Al-Chamaa for five years - also hinted she may be tempted to follow in Madonna’s footsteps and release an explicit tome, after taking inspiration from the 51-year-old singer’s famous 'Sex’ book.

She said: 'I have always loved Madonna. I was too young for her 'Sex’ book period, but then when I saw it I thought, 'Wow!’ Good for her, if that’s how she wanted to express herself. Would I express myself like that? Well, you never know,'

While she admires Madonna, Leona says there’s one celebrity who has been very rude to her in the past but she refused to name them.

She told Britain’s OK! magazine: 'They were a monster to me. It was someone who I really looked up to, someone who inspired me. They didn’t insult me, it was just the whole attitude they had. I didn’t like it. And you know what? They were like it twice. The first time I was upset, the second time I was like, I’m so much bigger than that.'

Arctic Monkeys We’re a new band overseas

Drummer Matt Helders tells Xfm.co.uk that touring overseas gives the band a new lease of life.

Arctic Monkeys have told Xfm that playing outside of the UK revitalises the band. Speaking backstage at the NME Awards, drummer Matt Helders told us,

'In England they want 'Dancefloor,' and the first [album]. When we’re in America and other countries we see it as an opportunity to play something more obscure because they’re not really expecting anything.

'It gives you the chance to be a new band in a way, and play some stuff you’re really into playing'.

You can hear the full interview with Helders and bassist Nick O’Malley below. In it, Xfm newshound Matt Dyson grills the pair on their hairstyles and spirit levels (apologies – we were fairly 'refreshed’ at that stage).

Ronnie Wood is selling his house

Ronnie Wood is selling his house

The 62-year-old Rolling Stones rocker is selling the property in London’s upmarket Chelsea area at a reduced rate, reportedly to cover the cost of his divorce settlement to ex-wife Jo Wood.

Despite having paid £7.25 million for the home just two years ago, Ronnie has put the house on the market for £5.8 million to ensure a quick sale.

Estate agents Strutt + Parker said: 'We have had offers, but not close enough to the asking price.'

The five-bedroom house, built over 300 years ago, is on the same street as fellow Rolling Stones Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Ronnie split with Jo – whom he was married to for 24 years – following an affair with Russian cocktail waitress Katia Ivanova, who he went on to have a 15-month relationship with.

Despite trying to raise cash by selling the home, Ronnie showed no sign of any financial woes at the weekend when he went shopping with rumoured new girlfriend – 30-year-old Brazilian architecture student Ana Arujo.

The pair enjoyed a four-hour spree around upmarket boutiques in London’s Sloane Square, with the rocker footing the bill for all their purchases.

Simon Cowells mum shocked at marriage

Simon Cowell's mother was "delighted" but "shocked" when her son told her he was getting married.

Julie Cowell, 84, received a phone call from her music mogul son telling her he had got engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy and she couldn’t hide her delight.

She revealed: "I'm shocked. I was the first person he called to say he was getting engaged.

'He's very contented with her. She's a lovely woman and I'm delighted she's so happy. I thought I would have departed from this world before Simon got married. I'm so happy he's committed to this girl."

Despite his reluctance to publicly talk about his romance with Mezhgan, the 'American Idol' judge is believed to have proposed on Valentine's Day (14.02.10) with a £250,000 diamond ring.

Friends close to the 50-year-old star now say he is determined to start a family with the beauty.

Despite his mother’s happiness, Simon’s publicist Max Clifford claims he is not getting ready to tie the knot.

Clifford said: "I spoke to Simon in London, just before he took his flight back to Los Angeles. I asked him, 'Look, are you engaged? Is it true?' and he said, 'No! No. I'm not engaged.'

"They are they an item. Yes, they're happy. But they're not engaged.'

Cheryl Cole spends night at butch dancers house

Cheryl Cole spent the night with a hunky American dancer on Sunday (21.02.10).

The 'Fight for This Love’ singer sought comfort from 'Dancing with the Stars’ professional performer Derek Hough after texting her husband, soccer star Ashley Cole, to tell him their marriage was over and he should move out of their marital home.

Cheryl, 26, fled the UK for Los Angeles last week after lurid allegations of Ashley cheating on her with five other women emerged.

Derek arrived at the London hotel in West Hollywood to see Cheryl at around 7.30pm on Sunday – the day she texted Ashley - accompanied by his terrier dog, and left at around 4am, smiling.

An onlooker told The Sun newspaper: 'He looked very pleased with himself.'

Derek, 24, has enjoyed a string of lunch dates and openly flirted with Cheryl while they have been in Los Angeles.

He met her while she recorded her debut album, '3 Words’, and also starred in the video for her single 'Parachutes’.

She has said of the dancer: 'He's a sweetheart and makes the day more enjoyable.'

Friends even say Cheryl – who flew back to the UK last night (22.02.10) - may consider moving to Los Angeles full-time.

A source said: 'She's been seeing a lot of Derek. Part of her doesn't want to come home."

Meanwhile, Ashley is said to be 'distraught', but accepting of the breakdown of his marriage.

A friend of the England star said: 'He is devastated and distraught. He is desperate for a reconciliation but knows in his heart he has lost her for good.'

Ashley - who wed Cheryl in 2006 - has yet to comment on allegations he slept with five women while married to the Girls Aloud beauty.

Frank Black has not chosen to hide behind the usual bullshit that artists do but has openly admitted that a tour to perform 'Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim’ is just a question of money.

In a refreshingly frank conversation with TheQuietus, the legendary frontman said.

'We're interested in anything that's going to earn us a fair wage. It's not to say it's not about art, but we made that art fucking twenty years ago. So forget the fucking goddamn art. This ain't about the art anymore. I did the arty farty part. Now it's time to talk about the money'.

Chris Brown praised for picking up rubbish

Chris Brown is a 'really, really' good trash picker.

The 20-year-old singer, who is currently carrying out his community labour order following his attack on now ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, had his second progress hearing since his punishment was passed and was praised for his commitment.

At the hearing which was held at Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday afternoon (18.02.10), Judge Patricia Schnegg said: 'You’re doing really, really well. I think you’ve made a lot of progress in the last month.'

As well as being sentenced to 80 hours of community labour, the 'With You’ singer was also sentenced to five years probation and must attend a 12-month domestic violence counselling programme.

Authorities in Richmond, Virginia, where Brown is carrying out the service, have confirmed he has completed 32 days of hard labour so far and 17 out of 52 domestic violence classes.

Judge Schnegg has consequently allowed Chris to leave the US in May and June to perform at a series of concerts.

Brown has repeatedly apologised for his actions, which left Rihanna severely bruised and injured following a pre-Grammy awards party in February 2008.

He previously said: 'I have told Rihanna countless times and I’m telling you that I’m truly, truly sorry in that I wasn’t able to handle the situation both differently and better. What I did was unacceptable.'

The Subways to headline 2000trees Festival

Post-grunge punk rockers The Subways will headline this summer’s 2000trees festival, organisers revealed today.

Last year the British trio were the main support for AC/DC’s stadium shows at Wembley Stadium and Glasgow’s Hampden Park. Before that they turned two years on the road touring with the likes of Foo Fighters and Oasis, and a potentially career-ending throat ailment, into their edgier second album All Or Nothing.

Their debut album, Young for Eternity, was released in the UK in June 2005 and included four Top 40 British singles. The album's most popular track, "Rock & Roll Queen," went gold in the US.

The Subways join folk-punk hero Frank Turner as headliners at this summer’s 2000trees Festival, taking place at Upcote Farm, near Cheltenham, on 16th – 17th July.
Other acts confirmed include experimental rock outfit 65daysofstatic, local (GLOS) heroes Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun, The Dawn Chorus, Chris TT, Roundstone, The Tailors, Ben Marwood and popular folk singer Dan Heaver - returning for his fourth year in a row.

The previous years have seen unforgettable performances from Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster, Art Brut, Slow Club, Future Of The Left, Beans On Toast, The Duke Spirit, The Ghost of a Thousand, Danananaykroyd, These New Puritans, Red Light Company and Wild Beasts to name just a few.

Simon Cowell planning huge showbiz wedding

Simon Cowell is planning the "biggest showbiz wedding for years".

The music mogul's friends have confirmed he proposed to girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy on Valentine's Day (14.02.10) and are amazed at how happy the make-up artist is making him.

One pal told The Sun newspaper: "Simon's definitely engaged. I've never seen him so happy. He's known Mezhgan several years and they've grown close. He finally popped the question.

"He knows it's right this time. It will be the biggest showbiz wedding in years."

According to those close to the 50-year-old star - whose ex-girlfriends include singer Sinitta and presenter Terri Seymour - he was keen to keep news of his engagement under wraps because he has said several times he never wants to marry and feared looking foolish.

A friend of Simon's revealed: "Simon's asked us all to keep quiet about the engagement because I think, after everything he's said over the years, he's a bit embarrassed by it.

"He's an incredibly instinctive person and this is just right. When he turned 50 in October, he was forced to evaluate things and really think about what he wanted from life."

Simon's close friend, Louis Walsh - one of his fellow judges on UK TV talent
show The X Factor - admitted he was surprised by the news, but thinks settling down will be good for his pal.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'm very surprised but I'm delighted he's got engaged. She is fantastic for him, very grounding, which is exactly what he needs to keep that ego in check."

The couple - who met on the set of 'American Idol' seven years ago have been dating for six months ' but appeared in public together for the first time earlier this month.

Paul McCartney looks to save Abbey Road

Paul McCartney has pledged jis support in saving Abbey Road after it was reported that the studio could be sold in EMI’s drive to raise money.

Speaking on the BBC’s Newsnight programme, the former Beatle, who recorded all but one of his former band’s albums at the establishment, said:

'I have so many memories there with the Beatles, It still is a great studio. So it would be lovely for someone to get a thing together to save it.' McCartney went on to say that a venture to stop the studio closing has been mooted by 'a few people who have been associated with the studio for a long time'.

The long-list of Abbey Road’s illustrious clients include The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Oasis, U2 and Radiohead.

Meanwhile, members of the public have been calling for the National Trust to buy the property. "It's not often that the public spontaneously suggests that we should acquire a famous building," said a spokesman. The Trust has already bought the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney in Liverpool.

Cheryl Cole isn't motivated by money

Cheryl Cole isnt motivated by money

The Girls Aloud beauty - who has been left devastated by allegations her soccer star husband Ashley Cole cheated on her again - admits she enjoys having no financial worries but it isn't the driving force behind her decisions.

She said: "I'm the least money motivated person that you'd come across. I never had a thing growing up as a child. We were, you could say, poor, we didn't have any money. But it's never something that I have been driven by. It's obviously something that's nice and it's a bonus to have, and amazing that I can have nice things and I don't have to worry like other people, but it's not what drives me.

"I just absolutely love what I do and I love music and I'm passionate about my job. And that's it really, that's what keeps me going."

Despite speculation Simon Cowell is keen to have Cheryl join him on the judging panel when he launches 'The X Factor' in the US, the 26-year-old singer says she has no intention to move Stateside.

She told Britain's OK! magazine: "I have no plans to move.

"If the day comes when I break America I will give it 150 per cent. But until that happens I'm just going to focus on each day as it comes."

Robbie Williams changing his mind on kids

Robbie Williams is 'coming round to the idea' of having children.

The 'Angels’ hitmaker said his fiancee, US actress Ayda Field, is constantly nagging him to start a family and he is slowly preparing himself to agree to her wishes.

Speaking of becoming a father, Robbie said: 'I’m feeling good things. She keeps going on about it and really, really wants one – and I’m coming around to the idea. But it’s slowly, slowly catchy monkey.'

Robbie – who will receive an Outstanding Contribution to Music honour at the BRIT Awards in London tomorrow (16.02.10) – is currently focusing on improving his mental and physical health and believes he is making good progress.

He added in an interview with The Sun newspaper: 'It sounds heavy but I was crippled with nerves over my latest album. But I’m in really good shape both mentally and physically. Mentally, I’m doing really well. I often get sidetracked and let my thoughts take me to a place that I don’t really want to go.

'I’ve been doing an awful lot about that recently.'

The 36-year-old star was seen entering a recording studio with former band Take That recently and has finally admitted they are working together.

He said: 'I could tell you about it, but they would kill me. Let’s but it this way, something big is on its way.'

Cheryl Cole devastated after Ashley photo revelations

Cheryl Cole has been left devastated after her husband was caught sending explicit photos and text messages to another woman.

The 'Fight for This Love’ singer has been encouraged to split from her soccer player spouse Ashley Cole by her Girls Aloud bandmates and mother Joan Callaghan after it emerged he sent sexual pictures and texts to an unnamed secretary – just days after he was accused of sending similar messages to glamour model Sonia Wild.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'As far as they’re concerned Ashley is holding Cheryl back. He doesn’t deserve any of this worry. Sarah Harding is particularly angry, furious in fact, but all the girls are upset and see each other as sisters. They will fight tooth and claw to protect Cheryl.

'Cheryl’s mum is also livid. She has said she’ll support whatever decision Cheryl makes, but privately believes she deserves better.'

A collection of over 300 messages were allegedly sent to the secretary by Ashley in October 2008.

One of the photographs shows him posing in front of a bathroom mirror in a pair of white briefs, while another – sent eight days later – show him gazing at the camera whilst lying on his bed.

One message wrote: 'can I have 1 more of ur t**s please. (sic)'

Another read: 'No its not big. Ur make me laugh. X (sic)'

Cheryl, 26, is distraught over the news, and 'looked miserable' yesterday (14.02.10) as she avoided spending Valentine’s Day with her husband and instead spent the day rehearsing for her BRITs performance tomorrow night (16.02.10).

A source said: 'Cheryl turned up wearing sunglasses. She didn’t speak to anyone and just went straight into her dressing room.

'She came on stage, did her performance and then left. She didn’t back out of her performance and was in the venue for three hours but she looked miserable.'

We Are Scientists new single

Keith Austin Murray ('Keith’) and Christopher Ian Cain ('Christopher I. Cain’) are back. Armed with a new single, and a record that sees them return to the stripped-down production sensibilities of W.A.S.’s gold-selling debut, With Love & Squalor, whilst continuing to hone the melodic knack that has made them popular with fans and men who work for months at sea.

The duo have also announced a show at Hoxton Bar & Grill on February 23, which sold out in record time (3 minutes and 25 seconds to be precise). The bands first show in London since December 2008, will see them recruit Andy Burrows (former hitter-guy to Razorlight) to drum.

John Mayer offered dream job in porn

John Mayer's recent statements seem to have got him into a fair amount of hot water last week but finally something good may have come out of it for him.

When he wasn't using the N-word and subsequently breaking down in tears on stage, John Mayer's Playboy interview may have got him a job.

He said that his "dream" is to write pornography. Well it looks as if his dream could become a reality because XXX giant Vivid Entertainment wants to put Mayer to work.

Vivid have asked the blues singer to wite and direct one of its upcoming sexy films.

Vivid writes that Mayer's a great candidate for the porn biz because his talents "have touched so many" and apparently there's a lot more touching to be done.

Gordon Ramsay wants to open a restaurant with the Beckhams

Gordon Ramsay wants to open a restaurant with David and Victoria Beckham.

The charismatic chef, who enjoyed Christmas dinner with the couple, enjoyed the festive season so much, he wants to go into business with the soccer star and his fashion designer wife.

He is quoted by gossip website Absolute Now as saying: 'We had a great time together – a lot of fun and a lot of laughs – cooking and having fun. So maybe one day we will have a restaurant together! Who knows?'

Victoria is such a fan of Gordon’s cooking she ordered takeaway from his restaurant at London’s Heathrow airport, despite them not normally providing such a service.

Meanwhile, her soccer star husband recently undertook cooking lessons to impress Gordon.

He said: 'It's something I've always wanted to do. I've always loved cooking.

'It's gone from a small ambition of wanting to learn how to make pasta to the extreme of doing this course professional chefs do. It's something I'm passionate about.

'I'd love to cook for Gordon and I definitely will one day.'

Avril Lavigne dating Brody Jenner

Avril Lavigne is reportedly dating Brody Jenner.

The 'Sk8er Boi’ singer – who filed for divorce from rocker husband Deryck Whibley last October, a month after they separated – has been enjoying a low-key romance with the 26-year-old reality TV star for several weeks.

A source said: "They're hooking up but they're keeping it low-key."

Despite trying to keep their romance out of the public eye, the couple recently enjoyed a dinner at Los Angeles restaurant Koi before heading to nearby nightspot Voyeur, where they amazed onlookers with their flirty behaviour.

Another source told E! Online: "You can tell they're into each other and both like to have a good time. They're cute together."

Since splitting from Deryck – who she was married to for three years – Avril, 25, has been romantically linked with actor Wilmer Valderrama and oil heir Brandon Davis, but pals insisted she was just friends with both men.

Brody was most recently dating Playboy playmate Jayde Nicole, but they split in December.

After revealing she and Deryck were to divorce, Avril insisted the pair would remain friends.

She said: "Deryck and I have been together for six-and-a-half years. We have been friends since I was 17, started dating when I was 19, and married when I was 21. I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship.

"I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know, and I love him with all my heart. Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note."

Legendary record producer Arif Mardin once described the band’s sound as 'Modern Motown.' Go West have also scored hits with the songs Goodbye Girl and Don’t Look Down.

Aptly described as 'The 25th Anniversary Concert', Go West’s highly anticipated UK tour will see the band perform songs from their colourful career, including soul and pop classics from their critically acclaimed second album Dancing On the Couch, including the Top Ten hit singles True Colours, I Wanna Hear It From You and The King Is Dead.

April 2010 tour dates include Cheltenam (Apr 8), Lowestoft (Apr 9), Birmingham (Apr 10), Gateshead (Apr 11), Basildon (Apr 15), Chatham (Apr 16), Peterborough (Apr 17), Barrow (Apr 18), Rhyl (Apr 21), London (Apr 23), Milton Keynes (Apr 25 / 26).

The winners of 'Best British Newcomer’ at the 1986 BRIT Awards, Go West will also perform their massive 1990 hit The King Of Wishful Thinking, the opening song from the hugely successful Julia Roberts and Richard Gere Hollywood blockbuster 'Pretty Woman’ (the soundtrack album sold over 12 million copies worldwide and the song was one of the most played songs in America from 1991-1992).

The forthcoming UK tour follows hot on the heels of a new solo album from Peter Cox entitled 'The S1 Sessions’ which is released in March.

To coincide with Go West’s nationwide UK tour this April, Go West will release a re-recorded version of their 1985 hit 'Call Me’ couple with brand new song 'Skin Deep’. The single will be available as a digital download and on CD.

Taylor Swift rattles environmental agency

Taylor Swift rattles environmental agency

Taylor Swift has been blasted by an environmental agency – for feeding possums.

The 'Fearless’ singer – who is currently on tour in Australia – made a late-night visit to a park in Melbourne with her bandmates on Wednesday night (10.02.10) to feed the wild furry rodents.

She tweeted: 'Tonight the band and I played a show, then hopped in the van and headed to the park for some midnight wild possum feeding.'

However, the 20-year-old songstress has been criticised by Australian wildlife authorities, who believe her petting session could cause 'disruption' to the animals.

A spokesperson for Australia’s Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) told Radar Online: "We know people who feed wild animals often have the best intentions and that it is attractive to tourists who want to interact with Australian wildlife.

"However, DSE advises people not to feed wild animals... it can disrupt their natural behaviour and it can cause some animals to lose their natural fear of people, making them vulnerable to attack."

Madonna back with ex-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez

Madonna back with ex-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez

Madonna is allegedly dating ex-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez.

The 'Celebration’ singer – who is believed to have reunited with Brazilian model Jesus Luz this week following a recent split – is apparently still seeing her former baseball star lover, who is nicknamed 'A-Rod’, and visited him in Miami last week.

A source said: "Madonna spent two nights with him in his beach house in Miami last week and Jesus had no idea.

"She just didn't tell him, and her staff were told not to tell him. She claims she has an intellectual connection with 'A-Rod’.'

But Madonna – who was rumoured to be dating Alex after she split from now ex-husband Guy Ritchie at the end of 2008 – isn’t prepared to let Jesus go because he is 'in awe' of her.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Jesus is really, really into Madonna but he's more like a little personal project to her. They are together when she wants them to be together. She decides what he wears, she has sorted English lessons for him and she even paid for his apartment. He's like a little sheep in awe of his mistress and she loves that.'

The 51-year-old pop superstar is also said to have developed a deep connection with Carlos Leon, the father of her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes.

The source explained: "When Madonna split from Guy Ritchie, Carlos was there for her.

"They spent a lot of time together and old emotions came back. But Carlos has a lovely girlfriend who Lourdes doesn't like, which has made life difficult. There will always be a big connection between Madonna and Carlos.'

However, all this male attention doesn’t seem to be making the 'Like a Virgin’ star happy.

The source added: "Despite all the guys in her life, she's extremely lonely since her divorce. She has everything but she never seems happy."

Madonna has four children – Lourdes, her nine-year-old son Rocco with Guy Ritchie and two adopted kids, David, four, and five-year-old Mercy.

Ronnie James Dio cancer update

Ronnie James Dio cancer update

Ronnie James Dio has been suffering from stomach cancer. His wife Wendy updated fans on his condition today. Here is what she had to say:

Since my last update, we have been back and forth to Houston three times for tests and chemo treatments, an emergency run to St. Joseph’s for another blood clot, an ultrasound and another cat scan. We met with Dr. Ajani, Ronnie’s oncologist, on Monday, and he was very pleased with the treatment so far. Some tumors have gone and some have shrunk. He says we have a long road to travel, but we are on the right path. Going back and forth to Houston is getting old, with all the cancelled and delayed flights and some of the rude Continental staff, the same boring food at the hotel (I think we have eaten everything on their horrible menu!), but, when we get a good report from the doctor, it is all worth it. The only food Ronnie says he can taste is Indian curry; everything tastes like metal (HEAVY metal?) because of the chemo. We did, however, have a nice breakfast with Carmen and his mother on Friday. He is still waiting for his bone marrow transplant.

I am so sorry if I have upset any of our friends for not returning calls or emails, but please understand that it is so draining for me to go over and over to everyone about Ronnie’s progress. This is why I thought that if I wrote an update once a month, everyone can know of Ronnie’s progress at the same time. The Fan Club just delivered a huge sack of mail, and we have been reading all the wonderful cards and letters you have all sent. Thank you all so much – it keeps our spirits up knowing you all love Ronnie so much and wish him well.

Ronnie and I have a great support system: Simon, who does so much; Geezer and Gloria (she has been my strength, everyday she listens to me, whether I am happy or not); Sheila and Jacqui, friends for 25 years who would go anywhere or do anything for Ronnie or I; Mike Carden, a cancer survivor who is always available to talk to; Rudy, Vinny, Doug, Scott, Big Scott, Lois and Wyn; my colleagues at work – Marchele, Lynne, Carmen, Anthony and Diana; Dr. Mena, Dr. Chu and our wonderful Dr. Kapoor, who is available 24/7 for us and spent his whole Sunday day off with us at the emergency room, and of course Dr. Ajani, who mixes his magic cocktail of chemo and gives us hope.

Ronnie takes a walk everyday in the park and keeps busy with his music and watching sports. He was really mad that he missed the Super Bowl because we had to fly back to Houston on that Sunday, as his chemo started at 8:00am on Monday. He is in real good spirits and will be going to the studio next week to listen to the mix of the Heaven and Hell DVD that will be released later this year. He is itching to get back on tour, and with the good reports and all of your prayers and good energy, I think he is going to make it. Bless you all.

Wendy

Paul Weller to receive the Godlike Genius Award

Paul Weller to receive the Godlike Genius Award

Paul Weller is to receive the Godlike Genius accolade at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2010 and will perform at this year's ceremony on 24th February.

After unrivalled success with The Jam, The Style Council and achieving acclaim from both critics and fans as a solo artist, Weller has certainly earned this coveted status.

Starting with the hugely successful band The Jam in 1976, Weller branched out musically in 1983 with The Style Council and has since achieved a God-like status as a solo artist. The principle figure of the Mod revival in the 70's, Weller has become a music and style icon. After a career spanning four decades, the song writing legend is set to return with a new album Wake Up The Nation released 12th April.

The Godlike Genius award is the pinnacle of the NME Awards. Chosen by the NME, it honours those music icons that have shaped the music landscape over the years. Previous winners include, The Cure, New Order, The Clash, Ian Brown and Manic Street Preachers.

Paul Weller said ""I'm very happy to accept the award, I don't feel Godlike or a genius but I'm happy to have it. It's nice to be recognised, you get your rewards in other ways too like playing live and seeing people's reaction, but it's nice to be recognised. I'm very flattered. I shall find a special place for it. A little altar to myself with garlands of flowers around it!"

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2010, THE rock and roll party of the year, will return to iconic music venue O2 Academy Brixton on 24th February. Weller and Cocker will be joined by the who's who of the music world where the winners of the public voted awards will be announced. White Stripes at war with US Air Force

The White Stripes have accused the US Air Force of using 'Fell In Love With A Girl’ in an advert that was shown at last weekend’s Superbowl.

The band compared the very similar tracks on their website, which prompted the US Air Force to remove the offending track. The White Stripes also released a statement via their website reading:

'The White Stripes take strong insult and objection to the Air Force Reserves presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support.

'The White Stripes support this nation’s military, at home and during times when our country needs and depends on them. We simply don’t want to be a cog in the wheel of the current conflict, and hope for a safe and speedy return home for our troops'.

'We have not licensed this song to the Air Force Reserves and we plan to take strong action to stop the ad containing this music'

Madonna's manager to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol

Madonnas manager to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol

Madonna's manager is being lined up to replace Simon Cowell on the 'American Idol’ judging panel.

Guy Oseary – who is also Chairman of the 'Celebration’ singer’s label Maverick Records, which has also released LPs by The Prodigy, Alanis Morissette and Deftones in the US – is said to be the favourite to succeed Simon when he leaves the show after the current series.

Although Guy is the frontrunner he still faces competition from singer-and-actor Jamie Foxx and former Sony music boss Tommy Mottola – the ex-husband of Mariah Carey - for the judging job.

A source said: 'Guy has been in the music business since Madonna discovered him when he was 17, and he has a lot of the same experience as Simon.

'His competition just can't live up to his level of experience and the people behind the show are slowly starting to realise it."

Jamie admitted it is unlikely he would be able to find the time in his schedule to appear on 'American Idol’ and he may not be able to "fill Simon's shoes", while show bosses are worried Tommy could be an even fiercer critic of the pop wannabes than Simon.

The source added to the New York Daily News newspaper: 'People really only know him as Mariah Carey's big bad ex. And producers are worried he'll even be harsher on contestants than Simon was."

Guy – who has made cameos in several films, including 'Charlie’s Angels’ and 'You Don't Mess With the Zohan’, and authored four books including 'Jews Who Rock’- is keen on the job because he wants to raise his public profile.

The source said: 'He was thrilled to hear Fox is considering him. He thinks it would be great for his image. And it's great exposure to boot."

Billy Bragg joins Green Man festival

Billy Bragg joins Green Man festival

Green Man is delighted to reveal the fantastic Beirut and songwriting legend Billy Bragg will be joining The Flaming Lips on our incredible line-up for 2010.

Beirut ' aka US musical magpie Zach Condon, returned to his New Mexican roots with Beirut's last release March of the Zapotec in February 2009. The double EP followed 2007's mini masterpiece The Flying Cup Club and features foot-tapping Latin American folk with backing from a Mexican funeral band and an explosive set of bedroom-produced electro synth-pop shenanigans.

We've been after this amazing band for years, so are absolutely chuffed to bits that they will be playing at this year's festival!

Joining Beirut in the beautiful Brecon Beacons is the ultimate man of the people, punk poet and modern day folk hero Billy Bragg, he has spent the best part of three decades fighting the good fight, socking it to the man and giving a voice to those people who can't get heard loud enough themselves.

Few performers can match his ability to connect with his audience ' whatever the size ' so we thought it was high time the Bard of Barking had a Green Manmoment all of his own.

Whether playing political rallies or resurrecting the lost songs of Woody Guthriewith last year's headliners Wilco, come and revel in the sheer bloody-minded brilliance of Billy's back catalogue - be it 2008's acclaimed LP Mr. Love & Justiceor classic anthems such as Sexuality, Levi Stubbs' Tears and A New England.

Despite exaggerated reports of their untimely split Sunderland's mighty Field Music are back to make the kind of skewed guitar art pop not seen since the likes of running mates The Futureheads first burst onto the scene.

Having snaffled a shed-load of five star reviews with side projects School of Language and The Week That Was, brothers David and Peter Brewis are back on home turf with new album Field Music (Measure) set to be one of the year's most celebrated records.

That's just for starters, my friends - there's much, much more to come from the mercurial Green Man as he gears up for his biggest and best festival to date.

As usual he's got many more big names up his sleeve and he'd really love to introduce you to a few unsung wonders ' why not try prolific Scottish songwriterAlasdair Roberts, intellectual hard times and heartbreak from Cass McCombs, London's post punk rising stars O.Children and psychedelic and folk-tinged sets from Jack Northover, Pete Greenwood, Mathew and the Atlas and St Just Vigilantes for size?

Gallagher JR tells Xfm Manchester his new band are set for their live debut in 2010.

Liam Gallagher has told Xfm Manchester’s Clint Boon that his new project will play live this year. Speaking about his band with former Oasis bandmates Gem Archer and Andy Bell, Liam said:

'We’ll be on stage this year, mate. Without a doubt. We’re half way through the record – the demos, that is.

'We’re in the studio this April to see if this producer works out. If he does, we’ll crack on with the album through June and July'.

Gallagher, however, remained tight-lipped about the producer.

'Nah, mate, I can’t tell you. Just in case it doesn’t work out'

He also wasn't keen to reveal the band's new name, but stressed they wouldn't be using Oasis.

"No, it’s not Oasis. That was a shit name anyway. I’m glad to see the back of it. There’s one that we're digging at the moment, but we’re going to get on with the music and see how it goes. If we haven’t got a better one by then, we’ll go with the one we’re into".

Amy heading back to the Caribbean

Amy heading back to the Caribbean

Amy Winehouse is going back to the Caribbean.

The 'Rehab’ singer – who spent more than six months on the island of St. Lucia last year - is flying out to Jamaica later this month but has been warned by her record label not to treat the trip as a holiday.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'She'll fly out next week. She is really excited about going back because she loves the Caribbean so much.

"But she's been told it's not a party. She has to work."

Amy, 26, previously took an extended break in St. Lucia from December 2008 to July last year, and enjoyed herself so much she even launched a residency bid to stay on the island permanently.

Troubled Amy, who was overcoming drug problems during her time on the island, had been asked to work on her much-delayed third album during her stay but recordings failed to materialise and

concerns were raised about Amy’s drinking after guests at the luxury resort she was staying at complained about her rowdy behaviour.

Attempts to get her career back on track were disastrous, with her performance at the St. Lucia jazz festival in May abandoned halfway through, reportedly after being booed by the crowd, although the official reason given was adverse weather conditions.

It was also while Amy was in St Lucia that then-husband Blake Fielder-Civil started a successful divorce bid, giving his reason as her infidelity after pictures of her cavorting with another man were published.

Amy and Blake are believed to have since reconciled their romance.

'We thank John Mayer for his generosity – he’s lent his time, talent and money. With his help and that of so many others, we’ll do everything we can to help the people of Haiti cope and recover.'

Following on from the disaster in Haiti, which has left millions homeless and hundreds of thousands dead or injured, John took to twitter to praise the American public for their generosity.

He said: 'Proud to live in a country where even in one of the worst economic times, we pool together millions of dollars to help others.'

Speaking at the Event Production Show at London’s Olympia today (02.02.10), he revealed the 'Supermassive Black Hole’ hitmakers will headline on Saturday June 26, while the legendary Motown singer is highly 'probable' to top the bill on the closing night (27.06.10), in what will be his debut at the festival.

U2 are already confirmed as headliners for the Friday night (25.06.10).

Several major acts, including David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and Radiohead, had been tipped for the prestigious Sunday evening slot.

However, Michael’s daughter and co-organiser Emily Eavis admitted earlier this week a 'festival virgin' would be headlining the final night.

She said: 'We’re pretty much sewn up now. We’re still slightly confirming the Sunday night headliner but apart from that, we’ve pretty much finalised the Pyramid Stage which is good.

'It’s a 40-year celebration this year so we’ve got some amazing highlights from the full 40 years and also some people who haven’t played before, one headliner in particular, so we’re very pleased with it.

'We’re hoping to announce the names soon because I think there’s an air of desperation and I understand that people want to know.'

The festival takes place over the weekend of June 24-27 at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England.

Lady Gaga 'cried' after singing with Elton John

Lady Gaga cried after singing with Elton John

Lady Gaga 'cried' because she was so overwhelmed at singing with Sir Elton John.

The 23-year-old singer was so happy the pair got to perform a spectacularly extravagant duet – seated either side of a giant piano which sprouted hands – at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (31.01.10) she was forced to make an emergency visit to her make-up artist shortly before she was due on stage.

She said: 'I’m just so happy, I can’t say enough and Elton was so amazing and the performance was really truly magical. I had been fantasising about this performance piece for a while and we got to do it, and I’m just really truly floored.

'I ruined all of my make-up right before the show. Crying, I was just so happy.'

The 'Bad Romance’ hitmaker picked up two awards at the event – Best Electronic/Dance Album for 'The Fame’ and Best Electronica/Dance Song for 'Poker Face’ – and dedicated her wins to her legion of fans.

She told 'Access Hollywood’: 'This is not an award for me, it’s for my fans. And I love my fans so much. And I wanted them to know that they should believe in themselves.

'And I wanted to be everything that they hoped I would be tonight, and that’s what we got to do.'

Ronnie Wood trying to stop the booze

Ronnie Wood trying to stop the booze

Ronnie Wood is taking anti-craving tablets to help him stop drinking.

The Rolling Stones rocker is reportedly taking one Campral tablet everyday to help him cope with the withdrawal symptoms as he attempts to reduce his alcohol intake.

Campral is the brand name for Acamprosate, which helps treat people with alcohol dependency by stopping neurotransmitters in the brain getting overexcited by alcohol withdrawal.

Apparently, the 62-year-old guitarist agreed to take the medication in a last-ditch effort to avoid being admitted to rehab.

A source said: 'Rehab is a last resort – he wants to do cold turkey himself.'

Ronnie – who has battled alcoholism for years - fell off the wagon in 2008, leaving his wife of 23 years Jo for now ex-girlfriend Katia Ivanova.

Katia later claimed their split in December 2009 was caused by his problems with alcohol.

At the weekend, it was reported the rocker had already entered a rehabilitation centre in south London after pleas from his concerned daughter Leah and his Rolling Stones bandmate Sir Mick Jagger.

However, reports now claim he only visited The Priory clinic for short time on Friday (29.01.10).

The Specials to get Outstanding Award

The Specials to get Outstanding Award

The Specials are to receive the Outstanding Contribution prize at this year’s NME Awards.

The British ska band – whose career has spanned over 30 years and who are known for their political lyrics – will be presented with the prestigious accolade at the music magazine’s annual ceremony on February 24 at London’s 02 Academy Brixton.

The band – fronted by Terry Hall – will close the event with a performance of their biggest hits, which include 'Ghost Town’, 'Too Much Too Young’ and 'Rat Race’.

In recognition of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s work, NME has renamed the accolade The Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Award.

NME Editor Krissi Murison said: "There are few bands you can truly call revolutionary, but The Specials are certainly one of them. After 30 years of entertaining and inspiring in equal measure, it is an honour to have them at the NME Awards."

Other nominees at this year’s NME Awards include Arctic Monkeys who are up for seven accolades and Kasabian who have six nominations.

It was also announced today (01.02.10) The Specials will perform at one of this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust concerts on March 29.

The charity was created ten years ago by The Who and aims to provide specialist teenage cancer units at UK hospitals. It has so far raised over £8.7 million.

Other acts confirmed to perform this year include Noel Gallagher – who will be playing his first shows since quitting Oasis - Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys and The Who.

Simon Cowell is driven by other people’s success.

The music mogul, who is currently in the process of releasing a single to help raise money for the earthquake-hit Caribbean nation of Haiti, admitted he gets annoyed if he thinks one of his business rivals is outdoing him and always wants to be the best.

He said: 'I don’t like the idea that other people in this business might be doing better than me.

'That really bugs me – I mean really bugs me. If you are happy to see someone who does the same thing as you do well – even someone within your own company – then you haven’t got it, it’s as simple as that.'

The 50-year-old star – who has an estimated $500 million personal fortune – hasn’t always been so successful but claims his hardest times were 'great' because they inspired him to achieve more.

He told new! magazine: 'I lost all my money ten years ago. I was so broke, I had four pounds in my pocket and I couldn’t even afford the taxi fare to go back to my mum and dad’s.

'So I know what it’s like when you’ve got a problem. But it was a great experience because I realised that I had to work harder and made some money in the end.'

Massive Attack flattered that songs are being used on TV

Massive Attack flattered that songs are being used on TV

Massive Attack think it’s 'flattering' when their old songs are used in TV shows.

The British musicians – made up of MC Robert Del Naja and Grant 'Daddy G’ Marshall – were shocked their tracks were being played in 'miserable' and 'disturbing documentaries' but don’t mind anymore as long as it makes the programme sound authentic.

Del Naja said: 'I know, you find it in all the darkest and most disturbing documentaries, anything that is pretty miserable, it keeps popping up - and it’s the opposite of how we started out, but if the idea is that this expresses authenticity, that this is the way things really are, then it is flattering.'

The musicians have grown in popularity in the US recently, as their track 'Teardrop’ is being used as the theme tune for the medical drama series 'House’.

While they don’t mind their songs being reused in some circumstances, Massive Attack get frustrated when these are replicated and used without their permission.

Del Naja explained to Sunday Times Culture magazine: 'It’s a blanket agreement that all bands have to adhere to.

'No, they can’t use it for advertising, but there’s always an army of producers out there who are quite willing to copy what you do and keep within the legal parameters.'

The band’s new album 'Heligolan’ is due for release on February 8.
